DOB: April 12, 1946
Background: O'Neill was born in Youngstown, Ohio, where he played football in high school and college. He was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1969 but was cut during training camp. He also taught history in Ursuline High School, his alma mater, before becoming an actor.
Filmography: O'Neill is best known for playing the role of Al Bundy on the long-running FOX sitcom "Married with Children," after which he guested or starred on many shows, including "Big Apple," "L.A. Dragnet," "The West Wing," "The Unit," and "John from Cincinnati." He has also appeared in the films "Spartan," "The Bone Collector," and "The Spanish Prisoner." He now plays Jay Pritchett on the ABC comedy series "Modern Family," for which he received his first Emmy nomination in 2011.
