Background: Ramirez is a Venezuelan actor born to a military officer. His family's travels to different countries when he was a child resulted in his ability to speak five languages fluently: Spanish, German, English, French, and Italian. Though always interested in acting, he passed up an opportunity to be an Alejandra Gonzalez Inarritu's "Amores Perros" so he could complete his thesis and attend Harvard National Model UN. But afterwards Ramirez decided to pursue acting.

Filmography: He made his acting debut in the Spanish-language soap opera "Costa Rica" from 2003 to 2004. In 2005 director Tony Scott cast him as Keira Knightley's love interest in the action film "Domino," after which he appeared in the thrillers "Vantage Point" and "The Bourne Ultimatum." But he achieved his greatest success to date playing real-life revolutionary Carlos the Jackal in the miniseries "Carlos," which was acclaimed by critics as one of 2010's best films.
