Background: Bonham Carter was born in Golders Green in London, England, to a prominent British political family; her great-grandfather was former prime minister Herbert Henry Asquith. She is currently married to director Tim Burton.

Filmography: The two-time Oscar-nominated actress made her feature film debut in "A Room with a View" (1985). Her other notable films include "Lady Jane" (1986), "Hamlet" (1990), "Howards End" (1992), "Mighty Aphrodite" (1995), "The Wings of the Dove" (1997), "The Theory of Flight" (1998), "Fight Club" (1999), "Planet of the Apes" (2001), "Big Fish" (2003), "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" (2005), the "Harry Potter" films as Bellatrix Lestrange, "Alice in Wonderland" (2010), and "The King's Speech" (2010). Other films were Tom Hooper's adaptation of the musical "Les Miserables" (2012) and Mike Newell's adaptation of Dickens's "Great Expectations" (2012) in which she plays Miss Havisham.
