Background: Black is an American comedian, actor, and musician who was born in Santa Monica, California. After dropping out of UCLA during his sophomore year, he went on to be a co-founder of the rock band Tenacious D and start his acting career.

Filmography: After a few guest roles on TV shows "Life Goes On," "Northern Exposure," "Mr. Show," "Picket Fences," and "The X-Files," he started getting small film roles. His first major role was in "High Fidelity" with John Cusack. He then went on to big success with "Shallow Hal," "The School of Rock," "Nacho Libre," "King Kong," "Year One," "Gulliver's Travels," and "The Big Year." He also voiced the title character in the "Kung Fu Panda" films and TV specials.
