Background: In Chicago, she performed in the Steppenwolf Theater Company and was one of only two women at the time picked to join the Second City comedy troupe. She also developed her comedy and improv at Annoyance Theater.
Filmography: Her film career began with early roles in "Vice Versa" (1988) and "The Fugitive" (1993), followed by a decade of films roles including "L.A. Law," "Judging Amy," "The West Wing," "Two and a Half Men," and many others. She has become a well-regarded character actress in films like "The 40-Year-Old Virgin," "Role Models," and Christoopher Guest's improvised films "Best in Show," "A Mighty Wind," and "For Your Consideration." She currently plays megalomaniacal cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester on FOX's "Glee."
