Background: Davies is an American actor who was born in Traverse City, Michigan, the son of children's author Mel Boring. After a short time living in Kansas where his mother died in the mid-1970s, he then moved to Santa Barbara, California, to live with his father.
Filmography: His earliest professional work was in guest roles on television shows including "Shoot First," "Dream On," "General Hospital," and "The Wonder Years." He then had a string of film roles in "Guncrazy," "Spanking the Monkey," "Nell," and "Twister" before his breakthrough film role in the Steven Spielberg film "Saving Private Ryan" in 1998. Other films that followed included "The Laramie Project," "Secretary," "Solaris," "Dogville," "Rescue Dawn," and "It's Kind of a Funny Story." In 2008, he joined the cast of the ABC drama series "Lost" as Dr. Daniel Faraday for 31 episodes. He then received an Emmy Award nomination in 2011 for his guest role as Dickie Bennett on the FX drama series "Justified."
