DOB: October 28, 1974
Background: Phoenix was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, to American parents, who moved the family back to the continental US when he was four. His parents belonged to the Children of God cult, but left in 1978 and assumed the surname "Phoenix." His brother was late actor River Phoenix.
Filmography: The actor appeared in "Parenthood" (1989), "To Die For" (1995), "U Turn" (1997), and "The Yards" (1999) before earning his first Oscar nomination for "Gladiator" (2000).
