Background: Cusack was born in Evanston, Illinois. His father was an actor, as are his four siblings, including Oscar-nominated actress Joan Cusack. He spent a year at NYU, but dropped out.

Filmography: He appeared in teen movies in the 1980s, including "Sixteen Candles" (1984), "Better Off Dead" (1985), and "One Crazy Summer" (1986). Among his other best known films include "Say Anything ..." (1989), "The Grifters" (1990), "Bullets Over Broadway" (1994), "Grosse Pointe Blank" (1997), "Con Air" (1997), "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" (1997), "The Thin Red Line" (1998), "Being John Malkovich" (1999), "High Fidelity" (2000), "Runaway Jury" (2003), "Grace is Gone" (2007), and "2012" (2009). In 2012 he stars as Edgar Allan Poe in the thriller "The Raven" and also appears in the drama "The Paperboy."
