DOB: September 11, 1959
Background: Hawkes was born and raised in Minnesota, but after graduating high school he moved to Austin, Texas, where he joined the band Meat Joy. He is currently a member of the group King Straggler.
Filmography: He has been a character actor in film and television since the mid-1980s, including TV guest appearances on "Wings," "Touched By an Angel" and "The Practice" and in films including "From Dusk 'Til Dawn," "Congo," and "I Know What You Did Last Summer." He gained prominence in the 2000s with his performances in the Sci-Fi miniseries "Taken" as well as the films "Identity," "Me and You and Everyone We Know," and "American Gangster." From 2004 to 2006, he starred on the HBO series "Deadwood" as Sol Star. In 2010 he appeared in the indie drama "Winter's Bone" opposite Jennifer Lawrence, earning an Oscar nomination. This year he will be seen in "Martha Marcy May Marlene" as the leader of a cult.
