Background: Roberts is an American actress who was born in Atlanta, Georgia. Her parents were actors and playwrights who founded the Atlanta Actors and Writers Workshop and also ran an acting school for children. After graduating high school, she moved to New York where she signed with the Click Modeling Agency and enrolled in acting classes.
Filmography: Her first role was a bit part in her brother Eric's film "Blood Red" which was filmed in 1987. Her first major role following in 1988 was in "Satisfaction." She gained great reviews for her next film "Mystic Pizza" and followed with "Steel Magnolias," which earned a Best Supporting Actress nomination at the Academy Awards. Her extensive film career after that has included "Pretty Woman," "Flatliners," "Sleeping with the Enemy," "Hook," "Dying Young," "The Pelican Brief," "Michael Collins," "Conspiracy Theory," "Stepmom," "My Best Friend's Wedding," "Runaway Bride," "Notting Hill," "Erin Brockovich," "Ocean's Eleven," "Closer," "Charlie Wilson's War," "Duplicity," "Valentine's Day," "Eat, Pray, Love," and "Larry Crowne."
