Background: Perry is a singer-songwriter raised by Christian pastor parents. She sang in her local church as a child and released an unsuccessful gospel album in 2001.
Discography: She released her first single, "Ur So Gay," in 2007 under Capitol Records, her fourth label in seven years, but it was the song "I Kissed a Girl" in 2008 that propelled her to stardom. It was feautred on her first mainstream studio album, "One of the Boys," which went platinum. Her sophomore release, "Teenage Dream," was released in 2010 and earned her a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year.
