Members: Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, Phillip Sweet, Jimi Westbrook
Background: Singers Schlapman and Fairchild met in 1987 at Samford University in Alabama. They moved to Nashville and began singing together. Westbrook joined in 1998, and Sweet rounded out the quartet in 1999. Fairchild and Westbrook would go on to marry in 2006.
Discography: They signed with Mercury Nashville at the start of their career, but didn't release any singles or albums until they signed with Monument Records in 2002 and released their self-titled debut album. But the label folded its Nashville division, and additional personal setbacks forced them to take day jobs while continuing to tour. They signed with Equity Music Group in 2005 and released the album "The Road to Here," which went platinum. The group's third album was "A Place to Land" (2007). Their most recent album, "The Reason Why," was released in 2010.
Academy of Country Music Awards: Win - New Duo or Group (2006)
CMA Awards: Nominations - Vocal Group (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011)
