Background: Ramsay was born in Glasgow, Scotland. She graduated from the National Film and Television School in 1995.
Filmography: She won prizes from the Cannes Film Festival and BAFTA for her short film work, and then made her feature directing debut with "Ratcatcher" (1999). Her second film, "Morvern Callar" (2002) starred Samantha Morton in the title role. She did not direct another feature film until this year, when her drama "We Need to Talk About Kevin" premiered at Cannes. The film stars Tilda Swinton as the troubled mother of a teenage boy.
