Filmography: He came to prominence in Richard Linklater's film "Dazed and Confused" (1993), after which he appeared in numerous films leading to his breakthrough role as a Southern lawyer in "A Time to Kill" (1996), adapted from a novel by John Grisham. For the remainder of the 1990s he appeared in various films including "Contact," "Amistad," and "U-571." In the 2000s he has become known mostly for romantic comedies, including "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days," "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past," "Failure to Launch," and "The Wedding Planner." He returned to the legal thriller genre in "The Lincoln Lawyer" (2011). In 2012 he appears in "Magic Mike," "The Paperboy," and "Killer Joe."
