Mia Wasikowska - Awards & Bio

DOB: October 14, 1989

Background: Wasikowska is an Australian actress born and raised in Canberra, but her family traveled to Poland, Russia, France, and Germany to follow her mother's photography career. She had an early aspiration to pursue a career in ballet, but quit at fourteen, after which she became inspired to begin acting. Although she had no experience, she persistently and successfully sought out a talent agent.

Filmography: She appeared in the Australian productions "Suburban Mayhem," "Rogue," and "I Love Sarah Jane" before achieving fame in the United States on the HBO drama series "In Treatment," on which she played a suicidal gymnast in therapy. She followed that performance with a role in the World War II-set "Defiance" and the biopic "Amelia." In 2010 she achieved international stardom in Tim Burton's blockbuster "Alice in Wonderland" and starred in the acclaimed indie comedy "The Kids Are All Right," which was nominated for Best Picture. This year she played the title role in a film adaptation of "Jane Eyre" and will be seen in the Gus Van Sant romance "Restless."
