Background: Anderson was born in Studio City, California, the son of actor Ernie Anderson. He started making films at age 12 with his father's video camera. At 17, he experimented with a 16mm camera and made a mockumentary that became the inspiration for his film "Boogie Nights."
Filmography: He wrote and directed "Hard Eight" (1996), "Boogie Nights" (1997), "Magnolia" (1999), "Punch-Drunk Love" (2002), and "There Will Be Blood" (2007). His latest film is "The Master" (2012).
