Background: Fiennes is an English actor and the oldest of six children, many of whom are also in the entertainment industry, including actor Joseph Fiennes and director Martha Fiennes. He trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and became a star in the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Filmography: His breakthrough came in 1993, when he a cruel Nazi in Steven Spielberg's Best Picture-winning "Schindler's List." He followed that with more successful films, including "Quiz Show" (1994) and another Best Picture winner, "The English Patient," in 1996. Afterwards he appeared in the period films "Oscar and Lucinda," "Sunshine," and "Onegin" (which was directed by his sister Martha). He ventured into big-budget Hollywood films with his role as Voldemort in the "Harry Potter" films and as Hades in "Clash of the Titans," but along the way he has appeared in a string of Oscar nominees and winners: "The Constant Gardener," "The Reader," "In Bruges," and his third Best Picture winner "The Hurt Locker."
