Background: Morse is an American actor and singer who was born in Newton, Massachusetts. After serving in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War in the early 1950s, he moved to New York City to begin a professional career as a stage actor.

Filmography: One of his first roles on Broadway was the character Barnaby in "The Matchmaker," in 1955 (a role he played again three years later in the film adaptation). That same year he earned his first Tony Award nomination for the play "Say, Darling." His stage career has earned him two Tony Awards (for the musical "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" and the play "Tru") out of five overall nominations. He has had great success with guest television roles from the earliest days of his career until today, including "The Secret Storm," "The Alcoa Hour," "Alfred Hitchcock Presents," "The Naked City," "That's Life," "Alias Smith and Jones," "Night Gallery," "Love, American Syle," "Fantasy Island," "The Dukes of Hazzard," "Murder, She Wrote," and "Suddenly Susan". His ongoing guest role as Bertram Cooper on "Mad Men" has earned Emmy Award nominations.
