Background: Gosling is a Canadian actor from Ontario. He was homeschooled when he was young and dropped out of high school at age seventeen to move to New Zealand, where he worked on the "Young Hercules" series.

Filmography: Before "Young Hercules," Gosling was a member of "The Mickey Mouse Club" alongside other future stars like Justin Timberlake, Keri Russell, and Christina Aguilera. He also appeared in numerous Canadian TV productions. But his first major critical success was in the dark indie drama "The Believer," in which he played a Jewish Neo-Nazi, earning him accolades. He broke through to mainstream audiences opposite Rachel McAdams in the Nicholas Sparks film adaptation "The Notebook." Two years later he earned his first Oscar nod playing a drug-addicted teacher in "Half Nelson," after which he starred in the acclaimed films "Lars and the Real Girl" and "Blue Valentine." This year he will be seen in "Drive," which won the directing prize at the Cannes Film Festival, and the romantic comedy "Crazy, Stupid, Love."
