Background: Martin is an American actor, comedian, writer, playwright, and musician who was born in Waco, Texas, and raised in Southern California. As a teen, he worked at Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm as a magician and comedian. He then became a comedy writer on "The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour" and a very popular stand-up comedian throughout the 1970s.

Filmography: After many appearances on television shows "Saturday Night Live" and "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson," Martin co-wrote and starred in his first full-length film "The Jerk" directed by Carl Reiner. After that success, he has had an extensive film career in "Pennies from Heaven," "Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid," "All of Me," "Three Amigos," Planes, Trains and Automobiles," "Roxanne," "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels," "Parenthood," "The Spanish Prisoner," "Bowfinger," "Cheaper by the Dozen," "Shopgirl," "The Pink Panther," "It's Complicated," and "The Big Year." He was rewarded with the Kennedy Center Honors in 2007.
