Background: Stamp was born in Stepney, London, England. He grew up admiring actors Gary Cooper and James Dean. After leaving school, Stamp started working in advertising, but eventually he transitioned to acting after being rejected from compulsory military service because of previous medical treatments to his feet.

Filmography: Stamp's 50-year acting career has included roles in "Billy Budd" (1962), "Superman" (1978) and "Superman II" (1980), "Wall Street" (1987), "The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert" (1994), "The Limey" (1999), "Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace" (1999), "Bowfinger" (1999), "The Adjustment Bureau" (2011), and "Song for Marion" (2012).
