Lucille Lortel Awards 2012: Complete List of Winners

Winners of the 27th annual edition of the Lucille Lortel Awards were announced Thursday.  The original off-Broadway production of the tuner "Once," based on the 2006 Oscar-winning film and now playing on Broadway, won three of its leading seven bids. The Broadway version is in the running for 11 Tony Awards on June 10. 

In all, 30 productions were in contention across 14 categories. Winners were revealed during a ceremony at the NYU Skirball Center. "Voca People" received a special award for outstanding alternative theatrical experience.

Inside Track: Tony Winners

Best Musical: 'Newsies' vs. 'Once

Ten of our 17 Experts are forecasting that the screen-to-stage edition of the 2007 film "Once" will prevail. It showcases the songs by Oscar winners Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova. However, the other seven Experts are predicting that the tuner version of the 1992 Disney movie "Newsies" will take the top Tony Award. It features a score by eight-time Oscar winner Alan Menken and a book by four-time Tony champ Harvey Fierstein.
