"For no reason at all, I'm trying to get a Grammy nomination," Kathy Griffin said on her 2008 album "For Your Consideration." The Grammys took note, nominating her for Best Comedy Album a first time. A year later she was cited again for "Suckin' It for the Holidays" and again the following year for "Kathy Griffin Does the Bible Belt." Now she's back with "50 & Not Pregnant," hoping fourth time's a charm. She should be in the Grammys' good graces; only last year she was invited to hand out Grammys pre-telecast and was uproarious, winning the love of Best Dance/Electronic Album winner La Roux who declared her to be "f***ing hilarious." "50 & Not Pregnant" is just as f***ing hilarious. Grammys, take note.

Griffin's biggest competition is comedy band The Lonely Island, led by Andy Samberg. They shocked everybody a couple years ago when they were cited in the Best Rap/Sung Collaboration category for "I'm on a Boat" with T-Pain. Their full-length album "Turtleneck & Chain" now contends for Best Comedy Album. Featured artists Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, Snoop Dogg, Nicki Minaj, Beck and even Michael Bolton make them a serious threat to win. A victory by them would be akin to when duo Flight of the Conchords won in 2008 for "The Distant Future."

Weird Al Yankovic already has two victories in this category for his album "Poodle Hat" and spoof of Michael Jackson's "Beat It" titled "Eat It." Among his parodies on latest release "Alpocalypse" are of Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" and T.I.'s "Whatever You Like." He might claim a third trophy here.

Two years ago, Patton Oswalt lost this category on his first nomination for "My Weakness Is Strong." Now he contends for "Finest Hour." He has a higher profile than ever following his acclaimed performance in "Young Adult" and could be a threat.

The star of television's "Louie," Louis C.K. picks up his first Grammy nod for "Hilarious." The recording was also a TV special which picked up a couple Emmy nods including one for C.K.'s comedy writing. As a first-timer in the category, he is a wildcard.
