A former Globe champion is almost certain to win again. The three frontrunners are Brad Pitt ("Moneyball"), George Clooney ("The Descendants"), and Leonardo DiCaprio ("J. Edgar"). Pitt and Clooney have supporting wins for "12 Monkeys" (1995) and "Syriana" (2005) respectively while DiCaprio won for his lead turn in "The Aviator" (2004).
Their fellow nominees Ryan Gosling ("The Ides of March") and Michael Fassbender ("Shame") are unlikely to become repeat winners.
