Hugo Frequent Scorsese colaborator Dante Ferretti is nominated for the tenth time. He won this category twice: for Scorsese's "The Aviator" (2004) and "Sweeney Todd" (2007). The deep, intricate 3D interiors may give him an advantage.

Midnight in Paris This is the first Oscar nomination for production designer Anne Seibel. "Midnight" was a surprise nominee in this category. Seibel captures contemporary Paris as well as the 1920s era and the Belle Epoque.
