The highlight of the Best Drama Supporting Actor category at this year's Emmy Awards could be the face-off between 2011 champ Peter Dinklage ("Game of Thrones") and 2010 winner Aaron Paul ("Breaking Bad"), who was ineligible a year ago since his show aired no new episodes. All five of the other nominees - Andre Braugher ("Men of a Certain Age"), Josh Charles and Alan Cumming ("The Good Wife"), Walton Goggins ("Justified"), and John Slattery ("Mad Men") - will also be on the ballot.
New possibilities from freshman shows include Christian Borle, Brian d'Arcy James, and Jack Davenport ("Smash"), Robert Carlyle ("Once Upon a Time"), Kevin Dunn, Dennis Farina, Richard Kind, and Nick Nolte ("Luck"), Tony Goldwyn ("Scandal"), Danny Huston ("Magic City"), and Mandy Patinkin ("Homeland").
From the previously existing shows, men available include Dylan Baker and John Goodman ("Damages"), Jonathan Banks and Giancarlo Esposito ("Breaking Bad"), Billy Campbell, Joel Kinnaman, and Brent Sexton ("The Killing"), Jim Carter and Brendan Coyle ("Downton Abbey"), Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Kit Harington ("Game of Thrones"), Jared Harris and Vincent Kartheiser ("Mad Men"), Robert Sean Leonard ("House"), Christopher McDonald ("Harry's Law"), Neal McDonough ("Justified"), John Noble ("Fringe"), Chris Noth ("The Good Wife"), Dax Shepard ("Parenthood"), Donnie Wahlberg ("Blue Bloods"), and the large ensemble from "Boardwalk Empire."
