Since 2000, nine of the 12 NYFCC Best Picture winners went on to at least contend at the Oscars, if not win the Academy Award; the exceptions -- "Mulholland Drive" (2001), "Far From Heaven" (2002) and "United 93" (2006).
Four NYFCC Best Picture champs also won Oscars: "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King" (2003), "No Country for Old Men" (2007), "The Hurt Locker" (2009) and "The Artist" (2011).
Five of the NYFCC Best Picture honorees were Oscar nominees: "Traffic" (2000), "Sideways" (2004), "Brokeback Mountain" (2005), "Milk" (2008) and "The Social Network" (2010).
