Since 2000, eight of the 12 NYFCC Best Supporting Actor winners went on to at least contend at the Oscars, if not win the Academy Award; the exceptions -- Steve Buscemi ("Ghost World," 2001), Dennis Quaid ("Far from Heaven," 2002), Eugene Levy ("A Mighty Wind," 2003) and Albert Brooks ("Drive," 2011).
Three NYFCC Best Supporting Actor champs also won Oscars: Benicio Del Toro ("Traffic," 2000)m Christoph Waltz ("Inglourious Basterds," 2009) and Javier Bardem ("No Country for Old Men," 2007).
Five of the NYFCC Best Actor honorees were Oscar nominees: Clive Owen ("Closer," 2004), William Hurt ("A History of Violence," 2005), Jackie Earle Haley ("Little Children," 2006), Josh Brolin ("Milk," 2008) and Mark Ruffalo ("The Kids Are All Right," 2010).
