Since 2000, 10 of the 12 NYFCC Best Screenplay winners went on to at least contend at the Oscars, if not win the Academy Award; the exceptions -- Craig Lucas ("The Secret Lives of Dentists," 2003) and Jenny Lumet ("Rachel Getting Married," 2008)
Three NYFCC Best Screenplay champs also won Oscars: Julian Fellowes ("Gosford Park," 2001), Alexander Payne and Jim Taylor ("Sideways," 2004) and Joel and Ethan Coen ("No Country for Old Men," 2007).
Seven of the NYFCC Best Screenplay honorees were Oscar nominees: Ken Lonergan ("You Can Count on Me," 2000), Charlie and Donald Kaufman ("Adaptation," 2002), Noah Baumbach ("The Squid and the Whale," 2005), Peter Morgan ("The Queen," 2006), Jesse Armstrong, Simon Blackwell, Armando Iannucci, and Tony Roche ("In the Loop," 2009), Lisa Cholodenko and Stuart Blumberg ("The Kids Are All Right," 2010) and Steven Zaillian and Aaron Sorkin ("Moneyball," 2011).
