    Days Of Our Lives

    Outstanding Drama Series
    Outstanding Direction
    Outstanding Writing
    Outstanding Actress: Arianne Zucker
    Outstanding Supporting Actress: Jen Lilley
    Outstanding Supporting Actress: SUZANNE ROGERS!
    Outstanding Supporting Actor: John Aniston
(Honorable mentions: Deidre Hall, Mary Beth Evans, and Kate Mansi)

I haven’t been happy with Days lately but this was a phenomenal episode (: Kudos to everyone – superbly produced, directed, written, and esp. acted by the best cast in daytime. Everybody was superb but for me the best work was done by Suzanne Roger’s Maggie.

Everybody in Salem needs to join a grief therapy group pronto! Will, Paige, Daniel, Serena, who else? Good grief!

    Completely agree with
all of your DAYS citations, Freeman.  It
    was an excellent show today!

    Young and the Restless

    Outstanding Lead
    Actress:  Amelia Heinle

    Outstanding Supporting
    Actress:  Jess Walton

Billy’s family gathers to support him at the hospital after he
was hit by Noah.  Jill rips into Victor
    for showing up.

    Some great
performances from both ladies today.  It
was especially great to finally see Jess Walton get some meaty material after
being on the backburner for so long.
Both effortlessly displayed the grief and anger at the situation.  I imagine we’ll probably more good performances
tomorrow, as Billy’s situation got worse at the end of the episode.

    Days of our Lives

    Outstanding Supporting Actress:  Suzanne Rogers

Maggie continues to grieve her son, and struggles with the
choice of whether to give Daniel’s heart to Brady or Eric.

Suzanne was brilliant again today, even
better than yesterday.  She gave a
subtle, yet effective performance and was able to cover so many emotions as she
was still dealing with the loss of Daniel and having to make this huge
    decision.

    Young and the Restless

    Outstanding Drama Series

    Outstanding Supporting
    Actress:  Jess Walton

Billy’s friends and family continue to rally around him at the hospital.  An angry and hurt Jill rips into everyone for
how they’ve treated and neglected Billy over the years.  Paul and Kevin continue to investigate.  Noah confesses to Victor that he was the
    driver.

A really great episode today! The stuff outside
of the hospital might not necessarily be drama series worthy, but from all of
the hospital stuff alone, and the great performances, I had to cite it for
series!  I thought everyone brought it
today, Peter Bergman, Eileen Davidson, Amelia Heinle, Gina Tognoni, and Beth
Maitland.  None of them had enough screen
time though to cite, but I thought Jess Walton was breathtaking today and had a
good amount of screen time.  This would
make a perfect reel for her too!  The near
5-minute scene with no cuts, where she just goes from person to person and rips
into them for neglecting Billy was so captivating to watch.

    Days Of Our Lives

    Best Supporting Actress: Suzanne Rogers

While I thought yesterday’s episode was a fraction stronger, combining these two epis as her Emmy reel would finally get her a second nomination (: Staggeringly good, subtle powerful acting choices. “Maggie’s Choice”, whew! (:

Honorable mentions to all of the adults on today’s show (I did not care for the TBD scenes with the younger characters at all). Ari Zucker shines, Mary Beth Evans is wonderful, Kate Mansi and Billy Flynn are stuck in that ridiculous story but their acting is great, Deidre Hall is touching (sure she will get her chance to shine soon), Jen Lilley is so touching, John Aniston is ably supporting SR, Casey Moss is understated…. really wonderful work by the cast of Days (:

Totally agree with the DAYS citations.  Suzanne Rogers has been marvelous these last couple of episodes, absolutely Emmy worthy if she wanted to be considered.  And the January 4 episode is a no brainer best drama series submission for the show next year.  Incredibly strong work.

    Days
    of our Lives

    Outstanding Lead Actress:
    Arianne Zucker

    Nicole
has to officially say goodbye to Daniel.  She then asks God why it has to be her that
    loses everything.

Ari got her big chance to shine on Wednesday and I think she
delivered very well.  Her monologues to
God in particular were really well done and heartbreaking.  There were times where it veered a little too
much into histrionics, but overall it was a really good performance.

    General
    Hospital

Outstanding Writing in a Drama Series

    Patrick
and Robin get married and say goodbye to Port Charles.

I thought this was a beautifully well done episode and a
great send off for these long term characters.
This might not hold up as a writing submission come the end of the year,
but I thought the writing in the wedding scenes, and even in the Laura/Tracy
scenes was really good dialogue.  The vows
to Emma in particular were really nicely done as well!

    Young
    and the Restless

    Outstanding Supporting Actress:  Jess Walton

    Jill, Victoria,
and Phyllis learn that Billy’s prognosis is not looking good.  Jill later rips into Jack and Victoria when
they bring up pulling the plug.

Another great performance in a great week from Jess
Walton.  She has done a nice job in each
episode this week of showing a different side of her grief, from anger to hurt
to scared etc.  I think she was probably
able to show the most emotion today, but Tuesday’s might be the overall best
showcase.  Both together, since they can submit
2 episodes now, would make a powerful submission.  I think it is great that two of our best
veteran actresses who don’t always get used, Jess and Suzanne Rogers, already
have great submission episodes only one week in!

    Days of our Lives
    Outstanding Actress
Deidre Hall as Dr. Marlena Evans
    Outstanding Actor
    Eric Martsolf as Brady Black

Marlena continues to worry about Eric’s condition, even as Brady improves.  Eric wakes up, and Marlena has to explain to him what happened during and after the accident.  Brady wakes up and is desperate to know what happened to land him in the hopsital, and is devastated to learn about the accident, his heart transplant and Daniel’s death.

I was very impressed with both of these performances, in addition to many others in this episode, and feel like they could factor into Emmy or prenom reels a year from now.

    Days Of Our Lives

Best Actress: Arianne Zucker as Nicole Walker

Nicole continues to grieve for Daniel. Her acting has been incredibly realistic and is bringing back memories of my sister’s passing ): Those hot uncontrollable tears, Bravo, Ari! (:

An honorable mention to the excellent work Jen Lilley continues to deliver as Teresa Brady. She has been giving really mature interesting performances on a regular basis.

    Young
    and the Restless

    Outstanding Lead Actress:
    Amelia Heinle

    Victoria
starts to doubt Billy, berates him at his bedside for doing this to her and the
    kids, and later breaks down.

Really great, raw performance from her.  I have been really impressed with her the
last few years in emotional performances.
I gave her a hard time for the longest, but she really does do grief and
emotion with the best of them and has been really stellar during this Billy
    story.

    Young
    and the Restless

    Outstanding Drama Series

    Outstanding Writing

    Billy’s
friends and family gather at the hospital when they hear that Jack has decided
to pull the plug.  They each gave an
    emotional goodbye at his bedside.

This was a really great and heartfelt episode, and I am
citing it more for the 2nd half.
The first half business stuff with Luca, Marissa, Victor, Adam, and Noah
isn’t necessarily series or writing worthy, but everything in the second half
was great, especially the montage of all of the bedside goodbyes set to Nadia’s
    theme.  Fantastic performances from just
about everyone including Jess Walton, Eileen Davidson, Melissa Ordway, Peter
Bergman, Gina Tognoni, Amelia Heinle, and Melissa Claire Egan.  I didn’t think any person in particular had
enough screen time to warrant an acting citation, but the ensemble as a whole
was fantastic.  I wish the Daytime Emmy’s
would add an “Outstanding Ensemble” category like SAG has!

    Days
    of our Lives

    Outstanding Supporting Actress:  Jen Lilley

    Theresa
gives Maggie her condolences and blames herself for Daniel’s death in scenes
    with Eve and Jennifer.

Freeman mentioned Jen Lilley, but I will go ahead and make
it an official citation, as I really enjoyed her work today.  She has been great in this whole story, but
it was usually just a scene or two an episode, so it was great to see her have,
for the most part, a full episode showcase.
It was a fairly subtle performance, but her raw feelings and emotions
    made it a great one.

    Young and the Restless

     Outstanding
    Drama Series

     Outstanding
    Writing in a Drama Series

    Outstanding
    Lead Actress:  Amelia Heinle

    Outstanding
    Supporting Actress:  Jess Walton

    Outstanding
    Supporting Actor:  Jason Thompson

Billy is taken off of life support, so everyone
gathers to say goodbye.  Billy’s spirit
visits all of his loved ones and apologizes for putting them in this
position.  A visit from Delia is what
finally makes Billy want to fight and return to his loved ones.

    I thought
today was even better than yesterday.
Yesterday had some pieces that didn’t really fit into the Billy story,
but today felt more cohesive and all pulled together through Billy going from
person to person.  So many great things
in the writing, from the history mentions (boarding school, Katherine etc.), to
the little touches (Delia showing up wearing Katherine’s Jewelry, Katie saying
daddy while Billy was there).  All of the
performances were great again, but I had to point out the above three.  Amelia and Jess were great yet again and have
no shortage of material to submit from this storyline.  I normally wouldn’t cite someone for their
first day on a show, but I thought Jason Thompson effortlessly slipped into the
role and had some great material to play right off the bat.  It was a great way to introduce him, as he
got to react to everything without yet having to interact with everyone.

    Days of our Lives

    Outstanding
    Supporting Actor:  Greg Vaughan

Brady confronts a grief-stricken Eric.  Eric Later bears his soul to father Louis.

    Great performance
from Greg today and reminded me how great of an actor he is.  I’m really going to miss him!  He is one the best male criers in daytime, and
he perfectly displayed his grief and guilt.

    Days Of Our Lives

Best Actress: Arianne Zucker as Nicole

Nicole is drunk and depressed; her subconcsious (sp?) visits her and kicks ass, tells her to get back to life and get up and sober! Then, Nicole visits Brady in the hospital for a heartwrenching scene that was incredibly well acted – AZ is on fire! (:

Best Supporting Actor: Eric Martsolf as Brady

Great scenes with both Marlena and Nicole (and also Teresa) – very moving with all of them.

Best Supporting actress: Deidre Hall as Marlena

Specifically her scene with Brady was fantastic!

The writing was quite good today, and there were many honorable mentions: John Aniston, Suzanne Rogers, Tamara Braun, Jen Lilley, Drake Hogestyn…

    Days Of Our Lives
    Greg Vaughan as Eric Brady

GV was superb as Eric visited Daniel in the morgue and esp. a heartfelt scene with his dad Roman. Heartbreaking. I am still angry he didn’t win an Emmy for his great work in 2013.

    Days of our Lives
    Outstanding Drama Series
    Outstanding Lead Actress
    Arianne Zucker — Nicole Walker

Family and friends gather for Daniel’s funeral.  Nicole comforts Parker but can’t find the words to express to everyone what Daniel meant to her.  Abigail convinces JJ that he would regret not going to Daniel’s funeral.  Theresa is concerned about Brady’s connections with Melanie and Nicole.  Brady continues to try to make sense of the dreams he’s having after the heart transplant.  Eric sets up a memorial site for Daniel in the town square but avoids being seen by the funeral-goers.

This wasn’t the showiest episode, but it was lovely in a lot of ways, nicely self-contained, used a lot of the cast, featured some great acting moments, and did a nice job of touching on other past and ongoing stories.  I regret that I didn’t cite more episodes and performances last year, so I’m going to take a less hesitant approach in 2016.

    Best Supporting Actor: Greg Vaughan
    Best Supporting Actress: Melissa Reeves

Eric visits a distraught Nicole, then goes to the park to get drunk, where he is confronted by Jennifer – GV is doing great work on his way out and MR continues to be impressive as a supporting player on the show! (:
