my predictions ( though not who i necessarily may want )

    Drama Series:

    Days of our lives

    Lead Actor:

    Christian Leblanc, Y&R

    Lead Actress:

    Heather Tom, B&B

    Supporting actor

    Scott Clifton, B&B

    Supporting Actress

    Amelia Heinle, Y&R

    Younger Actor

    Chad Duel, GH

    Younger Actress

    Kristen Alderson, GH

    Directing

    Y&R

    Writing

    DOOL

As much as i Don’t want it to happen, I feel that DOOL will be shut out of the acting categories, but may do better in the non acting categories.

And it begins . . . and by it I mean my switching of predix. Lead actor is hard to nail down. I initially had Billy Miller for the win, but that episode is a weird choice to go with when he had the series submission as a possibility. that excellent stand alone he played a plethora of emotions and it would’ve been the longest reel submitted. Then there’s Peter Bergman. He’s an institution and can do no wrong in my eyes. But Jason Thompson truly does have the best reel in that category. So I’m switching to him. Hopefully this will be the first and last time I do this lol.

But that reel (for Billy Miller) would have been like 35 minutes long (he’s in every scene of the episode, right?) Would that have been strategic? I agree that it was a stronger, more impactful performance…but that would be a really long reel (unless he edited it some). I don’t know if voters would want to sit through a 30+ minute reel for one actor.

Miller has, I think, won with a similar reel in the past.  I do feel a full episode as an acting reel would have felt very long, though he could have pared it down some.  I haven’t seen the series submission, but I was underwhelmed by Miller’s reel.  I think the only person who doesn’t give a better performance than him is Christian LeBlanc.  It’s hard for me to see either of them winning, really, when the Y&R supporters have Bergman’s reel to throw their support behind.  youngsoapfan, if Christian LeBlanc, Kristen Alderson and Scott Clifton all do win, I will bang my head against the wall.

Yes, Billy’s first win was for a long reel. It was back when MAB did those “It’s A Wonderful Life” holiday shows.

    Drama Series: Y&R
    Lead Actress: Heather Tom (B&B)
    Lead Actor: Billy Miller (Y&R)
Supporting Actress: Liz Hendrickson (Y&R).  Have a feeling it’ll go to Jane Elliott (GH)

    Younger Actress: Hunter King (Y&R)
    Younger Actor:  Chandler Massey (DAYS)
    Writing: Either three!
    Directing: Y&R

I’m predicting a blowout for CBS Daytime. They’ve got the baitiest reels and I have very little faith in Daytime Emmy voters to see past that. I hope I’m wrong about most of these.

The category in which I have been waffling the most is Lead Actor. I am still torn between Miller and Bergman. My instinct is telling me Bergman, but I actually selected Miller in my official Gold Derby Predictions.
