I haven’t watched GH in a long time, but I’m curious, how did they end up writing out Steve Burton, and was it well produced? was it done with class?
Did they kill him off? Also, has Sean Kannan started airing yet and if so who is he playing? are they still keeping it a secret who he is playing?October 10, 2012 at 4:42 pm #423290
I am a few days behind but Burton is still airing. I think his last air date is coming up though.October 10, 2012 at 4:51 pm #423291
Oh Ok. I thought his last airdate was back in September! Any ideas on how they seem to be planning to dump him?
Anybody know the exact airdate?October 10, 2012 at 5:43 pm #423293
Burton finished filming in September. Looks like his last airdate is October 22. Spumor is Joe Jr. shoots him and Jason falls into the water and is presumed dead. Sean Kanan first airs on October 29th.October 10, 2012 at 6:40 pm #423294
are you thinking (as I am) that Kannan will be taking over the role of Jason? It seems obvious to me.October 10, 2012 at 6:45 pm #423295
With those dates being so close I wouldn’t be surprised if he is and they really do have a similar look.October 10, 2012 at 7:04 pm #423297
Steve Burton has a pretty rabid fan base as does JaSam so accepting any actor as a new Jason may be difficult. But Kanan has that same brooding, macho look so maybe it’ll work if they do indeed have him play Jason.October 11, 2012 at 7:40 am #423298
I think gdfl is right: this seems like exactly the kind of stunt where TPTB would try to make people think Kanan will play Jason only to have that not be the case after all. We won’t have to wait long to find out, though.October 26, 2012 at 10:59 am #423299
It felt kinda rushed the way they wrote Sam and Jason’s reunion and then poof he’s gone. It’s obvious to me that Monica has been keeping an alive A.J. safe somewhere and that’s about to come out. Kanan will, of course, resume the role of A.J.October 30, 2012 at 12:43 pm #423301
I think pranks have become par for the course for daytime executives. I have been around long enough to know that EPs are like politicians. They will do and say whatever they have to in the moment and then dodge any criticsm later. How many times have we read from a head writer or EP that a certain actor or character is staying on the show because they have story for them…only to find out a few months later that what they really meant by staying on the show is that they will be staying for a couple of months.
As for GH, I would venture to guess that they wanted to create buzz to assist with their self-proclaimed “momentum”. I like GH. I like it a lot better under FV and RC than I ever did under JFP. Her creations come off less entertaining and much more like a way to pass the time. If you don’t believe me, you should see what she’s doing with daytime’s #1 rated show. ZZZZZZZZ. But I digress. I think they didn’t want to come out and say who he was going to be playing because they knew it would mean cutting short their bombshell that A.J. was alive. Most of us knew he was alive when Kanan was re-hired because we’re smart enough to see through the rhetoric.
