Yep, the AMC and OLTL alum is the new Ridge Forrester and debuts Dec 13. Major miscast if you ask me.October 15, 2013 at 9:50 pm #425401
I agree, miscast to the nth degree.October 16, 2013 at 7:45 am #425402
Wow, this is a surprise. I’m not a big fan of Kaye, and I can’t really blame the roles since I disliked him as much on Smash as I did on AMC. I agree that it’s also a huge miscast, so not very exciting.October 16, 2013 at 6:01 pm #425403
The WHOLE ENTIRE FUCK?! I loved him on “Port Charles”, but no. The whole essence of Ridge is that he is a male romance cover model come to life. Sure he’ll be an acting upgrade, but like y’all mentioned, miscast for true.October 18, 2013 at 3:37 am #425404
Well, this is interesting. I guess I’m the only one here that finds this to be a good casting decision? I actually think Thorsten Kaye is an excellent choice, and the more I’ve thought about it in the time since the announcement was made, the more I’m able to really picture him as Ridge. So I can definitely see B&B‘s rationale in picking Kaye for the role. He’d certainly have to work on learning to drop the British accent some, and tailor his hair a bit more to suit Ronn Moss’ style (which is quite similar to what was Kaye’s during his All My Children days — I’ve been recording the classic AMC marathons that run weeknights during the wee-morning hours on SOAPnet; some really good stuff, might I add… after all, I have to have my Beth Ehlers fix!). I feel like Kaye and Moss do share a lot of similarities, most notably I’ve observed in the way both men carry themselves. Also, there is a certain degree of pompousness in attitude that has always underlined Ridge’s character that Moss had down to a tee and which I believe Kaye could also interpret masterfully.
I’d assumed B&B would recast Ridge at some point further down the road, but for them to weave him back into the canvas this soon is an unexpected move by the show and one which has definitely piqued my interest. I’m eager to see how the chemistry between Kaye and KKL will translate to the screen.October 22, 2013 at 1:32 am #425406
^^^ Just remember that when Kaye proves all his doubters wrong (and I have every faith in him that he’ll make a great Ridge recast and make the role his own).November 5, 2013 at 12:45 pm #425407
I don’t wish for failure for any actor and/or soap. So, I wouldn’t mind Thorsten Kaye being successful on The Bold and the Beautiful. But, even with that emoticon I am being honest in expressing my reaction. This is a … WTF.December 17, 2013 at 9:01 am #425408
TK as nuRidge is not as bad as I thought it would be, but still disappointing. BTW, the hair and makeup on KKL and JMW has been awesome. And speaking of the latter, is it just me or has her screen presence taken a noticeable turn for the better this time around?

Katherine Kelly Lang is a knockout.December 18, 2013 at 3:35 am #425410
Yes, KKL sure is looking beautiful as ever… very befitting of the title of the show! And JMW… especially radiant! Oh, how I’ve missed her presence on the show these past few months, and it’s soooo good to have her back!! Keeping my fingers crossed that this won’t just be a short-term visit.
As for Kaye, I’ll still give him the benefit of another week or two until he’s had some time to settle into his new role; for now, though, it certainly feels like he’s making every honest effort to be as believable as possible as nuRidge. For starters, I’m glad he kept the longer hair to sort of simulate Ronn Moss’ style, which is definitely a step in the right direction!
