Simply put, who do you view as the Best Actor or Actress to ever grace soaps? Not your favorite, but the most talented?
Although, Susan Lucci is my favorite actress, I understand she’s not really “the best”. For BEST, i would consider Erika Slezak, Beverlee McKinsey, Linda Dano, Kim Zimmer, David Canary, Anthony Geary and Justin Deas to be among the best.May 23, 2011 at 3:49 pm #416977
The best actress in all the years that I watched soaps has got to be Nancy Lee Grahn, hands down, though Erika Slezak isn’t far behind her.May 24, 2011 at 2:27 pm #416978
So many amazing performers over the decades, and I’m sure many more I haven’t seen, that it’s really hard for me to pick. Eileen Davidson’s a standout for me.May 24, 2011 at 5:51 pm #416979
So many wonderful actresses but I would rank Beverlee McKinsey as the greatest ever with Kim Zimmer, Erika Slezak, Victoria Wyndham, Susan Flannery, Colleen Zenk, Elizabeth Hubbard, Melody Thomas Scott, Robin Strasser and Genie Francis right up there. These are just for starters, I could fill up this list quite quickly given more time.May 24, 2011 at 9:48 pm #416980

No doubt in my mind…..
Susan Flannery and Eric Braeden are the best in the business!May 28, 2011 at 4:32 am #416983
For the ladies, I’d go with Beverlee McKinsey, Susan Flannery, Marcy Walker, Nancy Lee Grahn, Maura West, Elizabeth Hubbard, Victoria Rowell, Julia Barr, Jess Walton, Victoria Wyndham, Kimberlin Brown, Anne Heche, and Heather Tom. IMO, Marcy Walker gave the best and most deserving Emmy winning performance of all-time.
As for the man, I’d say Justin Deas, A Martinez, Lane Davies, Larry Bryggman, Benjamin Hendrickson, Peter Bergman, Douglass Watson, MacDonald Carey, Charles Keating, Grant Aleksander, Anthony Geary, Jed Allan, David Canary, James Mitchell, Michael Park, and Eric Braeden.May 28, 2011 at 4:34 am #416984
I saw someone had Eileen Davidson as one of their picks, so I must add that, while I like her now on Y&R and enjoyed her last couple years on DAYS, she was simply dreadful on Santa Barbara as a recast Kelly. The image of her chasing Cruz’s plane down the runway as he left town and falling on the ground sobbing is forever burned in my memory. It was some of the worst acting that I’ve ever seen on a soap. So, while I’ve come around to liking her now, I could never rate her among the best of all-time for that reason.June 1, 2011 at 2:37 am #416985
Beverly Mckinsey, Victora Vyndham, Elizabeth Hubbard, Erica Slezak,Susan Lucci: in terms of delivery of lines, dramatic effect, tone, voice, body language. Beverly Mckinsey was robbed of an Emmy, but she was a woman with class, and the greats in Hollywood never got Oscars either, but their work lives on. Susan Lucci deserved the Emmy 15 years ago and she was robbed by lesser know, actress who are no longer working or memorable.
Actors: David Canary-comic genius, Douglas Watson-best actor of all time in Daytime, Larry Bergman- genius-perfect timing.
