Yeah it’s silly!September 2, 2014 at 4:22 pm #427368
In general, I am not a fan of recasting. When an actor leaves a show, I take it as a sign that it’s time for the writers to move on. That said, I find this casting especially puzzling. Billy Miller is such a drastic change from Steve Burton. It seems so unlikely. Additionally, the last thing that GH needs right now is another character on the canvas, particularly one with criminal tendencies.
There is only one way this will work for me. And that is to bring back Jason’s memory and have him reclaim his legacy as a Quartermaine. That would right a long-time wrong and allow for a complex re-imagining of the role of Jason.
I am a big fan of Billy Miller. Despite my doubts, I hope this works out. But given the way the writers handled the return of AJ and Sean Kanan, I am dubious.September 2, 2014 at 9:57 pm #427369
^^ I agree that there’s no room for more characters, and Billy Miller is too drastic of a change. I’m generally open to recasts, but even from the time this was in the rumor mill, I can’t picture this working.

This is so ironic since I just read on Sunday he was NOT going to be playing Jason! I agree with those who hope he plays Jason QUARTERMAINE and not Jason Morgan (for one thing, Leslie Charleson might be on a bit more and I am all for that).
What is up with all this switching from Y&R to GH? Maura, Michelle and now Billy… (anyone else?)
I didn’t like Steve Burton in the role (except early on when he was a Q and esp. when he ws involved with Robin) so Billy Miller might make me like this character again. Not sure if he will have chemistry with Sam? We’ll just have to wait and see…September 3, 2014 at 9:23 am #427371
I don’t necessarily see this not working. My guess is that Frank and Ron would be putting a lot more stock in Jason as a character than they did AJ or some others who are around but not really getting much airtime or story. And I think Billy Miller will get a treatment similar to what Maura West and Michelle Stafford have been getting. He’s a daytime superstar now, and I bet they intend to treat him as such. It seems like fans have been clamoring for the return of Jason Quartermaine for a long time, so maybe that’s exactly what they’ll do, or maybe they’ll just start over again, and have Jason have no memory of anything from his past at all. This could definitely be interesting, and Billy Miller is a good addition to any cast. Steve Burton’s been gone long enough that I don’t think the change will be too drastic to work. That said, I’m actually not the biggest Billy Miller fan. I think he’s good, but I don’t go as crazy over him as a long of people do.September 3, 2014 at 7:50 pm #427372
I wish well of every actor on daytime. But, I wish most of them—after leaving their soaps—would move on from daytime. This is especially so with actors/actresses who aren’t considered “old.” (I root for them to get work in mainstream movies, on prime-time television.) We have four daytime soaps left, and moves like this one are nowadays coming off like couples swapping.September 3, 2014 at 9:29 pm #427373
Seriously? I thought he was all ready to BREAK OUT into primetime and the movies like all these actors who think they’re too good only later realized its the opposite.
Anyways, he better hit the gym because it seems like every man on GH has to be shirtless at least 50% of the time.September 4, 2014 at 8:19 am #427375
I do love how GH does not shy away from showing off the goods they’ve got.
I also thought Billy Miller would be hitting primetime and movies. He had a pretty decent sized role on Sarah Michelle Gellar’s Ringer during its one season on the CW. (Funny that Michelle Stafford popped up there, too.) It makes me think that his GH stint will be short term, but I don’t know.September 7, 2014 at 7:09 pm #427376
