    I voted for:

    Jack P. Shepherd
    Natalie J. Robb
    Coronation Street

I just want to say that this year’s longlist is absolutely ridiculous!

WHERE THE HELL IS JAKE WOOD? He’s been outstanding during Christmas and Abi’s Death, and he was the one who kept that awful Revenge Storyline going.

I will admit that I’m pleased Steve McFadden’s FINALLY getting recognised, but Richard Blackwood has barely done anything this year, and the same goes for Letitia Dean. Kellie Bright, Jacqueline Jossa or Lorna Fitzgerald should have been nominated instead.

Chris Gascoyne or Mikey North should have been nominated instead of Shayne Ward for Best Actor, and Tina O’Brien or Barbara Knox should have been nominated instead of Catherine Tyldesley for Best Actress.

I’m quite surprised Gillian Kearney’s not up for Best Actress. I like Lucy Pargeter, but she’s barely done anything this year, and I’m a bit surprised Danny Miller’s not up for Best Actor.

The Hollyoaks Nominations are a joke! Gregory Finnegan should have been nominated for Best Actor instead of the guy who plays Hunter, and Sarah Jayne Dunn and Tamara Wall/Jessica Fox should have been nominated for Best Actress.

What do you guys think of this year’s longlist?

Who have you voted for and who do you think will be shortlisted?

Let’s be honest, it’s a stretch for Eastenders to fill the six slots. It’s not had any really storylines all year!

Coronation Street on the other hand has had surplus all year. Lucy Fallon probably Favourite to Win Actress, after coming pretty close last year, and a good follow through story with Bethany all year.

Catherine Tyldsley has actually been brilliant all year too, and I love that Bhavana Limbachia is up – both of these are pretty underrated in terms of just how good they are.

I could see all three getting into the shortlist.

Surprised there is no Charley Webb for Emmerdale in Actress. The Joe Storyline was brill.

Best Actor is also a Corrie battle. Phelan vs David. It all boils down to how the next few weeks of both storylines play out.

On the whole, these awards are a lot less exciting than last year. Emmerdale was SO good, and Coronation Street was super strong. This year, it’s still likely those two are contending for the most awards, but less intense than last year.

I don’t get how Theo Graham has been shortlisted over Gary Lucy for Best Actor. I’m sorry, but Theo Graham is a HORRENDOUS actor.

I do think that Luke’s Alcoholism should have been nominated for something. The Luke vs. Gibbs episode was brilliant, and I don’t get how that wasn’t even nominated.

Why are Ross Adams and Nadine Mulkerrin nominated for Best Female Dramatic Performance? Gary Lucy and Anna Passey should have been nominated instead of them.

I’m really sad that Natalie J. Robb hasn’t been shortlisted for Best Actress. She’s been outstanding all year.

I’m pissed off that Ryan Clayton hasn’t been nominated for Best Newcomer. He’s been outstanding during the David Storyline. If he was nominated, he probably would have won.

I also think Phelan killing Andy and Vinny should have been nominated for something. That episode was well acted and well directed.

I thought Ned Porteus was gonna be nominated for Best Newcomer, but I’m happy that Andrew Scarborough has been nominated.

Some of the EastEnders nominations are ridiculous. Max and Stacey for Best On-Screen Partnership? Karma for Max as Best Storyline? Max’s Revenge being nominated for Best Storyline would have made more sense.

How is Nitin Ganatra up for Best Comedy Performance? Masood has just been an unlikable idiot since he returned.

I’m not surprised that no one from EastEnders hasn’t been shortlisted for Best Actor again. If Jake Wood was nominated, they would’ve had a better chance of being shortlisted.

I just want to say that I’m so relieved Aidan Maguire and Glenn Donovan haven’t been nominated for Villain of the Year.

What are your thoughts on this year’s nominations and who do you think will win?

Corrie deserves to be out in front. It’s had so many great stories this year. Good that not everything is Phelan dominated for Corrie. Though Jack P Shepherd or Colton Smith would be welcome nods in Male Dramatic Performance instead of Connor McIntyre, seeing as he is also up for Villain. Shame to not have Barbara Knox or Sue Clever nominated anywhere either despite their good years. I foresee this winning all three public categories. Upcoming storylines on the show plays into Catherine Tyldsley‘ hands to give her the win over Lucy Fallon in Best Actress.

Doctors could be a dark horse in categories this year – Connor McIntyre is going to dominate the night, so hopefully the panel won’t give him Dramatic Performance. A clean sweep should be reserved for unbelievably powerful storylines, like Ashley’s Dementia in Emmerdale last year. Jake Wood was very good, but he didn’t get submitted for Best Actor. Cain isn’t a typically dramatic character in the way this category recognises. The PTSD storyline in Doctors would be a great showcase for Chris Walker to pull off a win. I always love it when they win too because one award means so much to them compared to all the other soaps. Also, Zara & Daniel are brill and deserve to be recognised as one of soaps best couples with an award too. The rut that I see Eastenders and Hollyoaks in, and Emmerdale not quite being at the euphoric high it has been this year compared to the last two or three years, could really benefit Doctors having its best night for years.

Eastenders has had another rough old year. But I can’t imagine the panel making it go away empty handed AGAIN. So a consolation prize of Newcomer/Scene seems most likely. Their Christmas episode was ace so that scene does deserve some recognition for being a light in an overall dull year. Max’s karma (Abi’s death) was better than the whole Revenge Story so good to see that side of the storyline be recognised. Lacey Turner and Jake Wood are the stars of the show at its best and worst, and the nominations reflect that.

Graham in Emmerdale up for Newcomer instead of Joe is….odd….very odd. As is their Partnership nod over Joe & Debbie, whose chemistry burst out throughout the scheming storyline. Really hope Sally Dexter (robbed of Best Newcomer last year) wins this year. She is so so good. As was the flashback episode which deserves to win. This year will be the test of how strong Emmerdale’s fan base has become. Ryan Hawley shocking in Actor, or the show winning Best Soap would demonstrate it’s Goliath nature it seems to be building, which Eastenders had in the late-00s/early-10s. I can’t see it holding onto Best Soap against Corrie, and it will win fewer awards than last year, but it has still been the second best Soap on telly all year.

No Hollyoaks actor or actress deserves a top five finish in the acting categories imo. It’s had decent moments, but nothing that grabbed me as a viewer. I say that as someone that was voting for the show in categories for several years. It’s in a bit of a rut atm. If I had it my way, they’d walk out empty handed. Newcomer or Young Actor is where I’d put my money on it winning if it was to win anything. Rank outside bet of winning Male Dramatic Performance – but with an upcoming Corrie storyline tackling the same issue, and going deeper with it, it may be overshadowed.

Greatest Moment is a great category. All great moments, not all are my personal moments of the last 20 Years. Would’ve been good to see an older Hollyoaks moment nominated, like Melissa Dies In Hannah’s Arms as part of the Anorexia story, or Craig & John Paul are outed, or OB punching Claire in the face, or Max’s death. I think for the public it’s an old school battle of Corrie vs Eastenders. The Eastenders moment is SO iconic still to this day, with people quoting it, that I think it will be the winner.

I’m gonna be honest, I don’t see Hollyoaks winning anything this year. Most of their nominations are ridiculous.

If Luke’s Alcohol storyline was nominated, they would’ve had a better chance of winning something.

I will be honest. I am relieved Who Killed Amy? isn’t nominated for Best Storyline, and Glenn Donovan isn’t nominated for Villain of the Year.
