Just thought I would create a new topic to discuss the big DAYS OF OUR LIVES re-launch that will be happening on September 26th.
I for one cannot wait for the changes to come…everything sounds like it is going to be one hell of a turn around.
DAYS is back baby!September 21, 2011 at 9:25 pm #417063

Everything looks great so far. I enjoyed Friday’s episode and the past couple weeks (with the new writing team’s work) were a vast improvement over the Summer stories. YUCK.September 26, 2011 at 7:59 am #417065
Yes, Friday was very promising. The writing was great, and the flashbacks were very nice. And they mentioned Nathan, which was nice. I’m always hoping to get Dr. Bootylicious back in Salem.September 27, 2011 at 7:46 am #417066
I really enjoyed yesterday’s episode. It felt pretty classic in a lot of ways. There wasn’t a whole lot of plot going on, though I did really like some of the briefer bits of development like the EJ/Nicole scene and Will introducing Gabby to Carrie and Austin as “Rafe’s sister.” Adrienne’s line about Sami keeping things from her husband was probably my favorite. It was touching to hear Hope talk about how people for generations would go to the town square and remember Tom and Alice Horton because of it.September 27, 2011 at 8:59 am #417067
For longtime fans, I am hoping this hit the sweet spot. I thought it was fine. Some stuff did make me roll the eyes like bearded Jack not being discovered, Carrie and Austin’s new jobs, and the network synergy of that Patti what’s her face from Bravo. Hopefully the stories that will steem from the part will be good.September 29, 2011 at 7:54 am #417068
I’ve been loving this relaunch like I’m Ryan Seacrest loves Kardashians, but yesterday’s episode was where we really started seeing some story development, which I appreciated. The Brady/John tension was great. And I’m glad Jack is finally in plain sight, though I love that it took Jennifer like 45 seconds to stop squinting at him and realize who it was. They were really sticking with the idea that the beard made him virtually unrecognizable, I guess.soapsarecoolParticipantJoinedSep 30th, 2011Total Topics4Posts63October 2, 2011 at 9:20 am #417069
Wow am I happy with the Days re-launch!!! It hasn’t been perfect — the dialogue has been a bit cheesy, the lack of extras made the whole thing look a bit ridiculous (I know there’s a tight budget but still…)… but WOW isn’t it exciting to have all these old favorites back?!?! Justin, Adrienne, Roman, Marlena, John, Jack, Carrie, Austin, Victor, Maggie, Jennifer, Stefano, Kate, Abe, Lexie… for a longtime fan like myself this is an embarrassment of riches. Days is definitely the show to watch right now… I also liked the way they wrapped up the story for Chloe and Carly in a respectful way…AllanParticipantJoinedMay 24th, 2011Total Topics4Posts39October 3, 2011 at 9:54 am #417070
Am loving the reboot DAYS and I like how they are setting Renee Jones up for a long-awaited storyline. She is so deserving. And she was absolutely on fire during Friday’s show.October 3, 2011 at 1:54 pm #417071
Yes! I loved her Friday, and thank goodness they are giving her something to do!October 5, 2011 at 7:55 am #417073
I like when new character hit the ground running and we don’t get days and days of lurking, hiding, innuendo, and other things that are supposed to intrigue us, so I’m a fan so far. She’s already in Brady’s face and fighting with Kate, and she’ll fit right in with the Kate/Sami rivalry. She does feel a little Claudia, I agree, but I’m not complaining yet.
Now that I can see where everything is going, I can say that I think I’m really going to like the direction of the show. Friday’s and Monday’s episodes — Friday focusing on the reaction to EJ’s announcement, and leading up to Victor’s proposal and John’s arrest, and then Monday dealing with the fallout of the arrest and Maggie accepting the proposal — were both very strong, I thought. The week started off very light and then progressed nicely into real drama by the end of it.ScoopsterParticipantJoinedSep 21st, 2011Total Topics41Posts218October 5, 2011 at 10:38 am #417074
Just popping in to say that DAYS OF OUR LIVES is BACK! The show is great, the writing is smart and fresh, the acting has improved ten fold!
Rumour has it DAYS went up BIG time in the ratings last week as well.October 10, 2011 at 7:19 am #417075
I know I’ve said it already, but it’s worth repeating: I’m just loving this show so much right now. I was practically giddy watching Thursday’s and Friday’s episodes. Renee Jones was awesome in the EJ for Mayor storyline, which is a lot of fun. EJ and Nicole are great together without being involved in a love triangle together, and having EJ sue John on behalf of the victims of his alleged crimes is a GREAT move. It’s exactly the kind of thing EJ should be doing. He’s more clever and grounded than resorting to the extremes Stefano uses, but he’s still the villain. Christie Clark hasn’t missed a beat coming back in as Carrie, and I’m glad they’re not pretending Carrie is some season pro with tons of experience. John’s reservations about having her as his lawyer seem almost as motivated by his concerns over her ability as his concerns for her safety. I’m just loving it.October 10, 2011 at 3:16 pm #417077
Caught a little when I was in between classes today and I like the simpleness of it all. Sami being all scambled mom b/c she might of forgot Johnny’s dress like someone famous day. Carrie and Austin (though nuold Austin was fumbling a bit on his line delivery) clashing b/c both are on opposite ends of John’s case. The scene w/the girls and their husbands sitting in Marlena’s living room.
And on the opposite end, the Jack/Daniel/Jennifer triangle looks promising.October 11, 2011 at 1:12 pm #417078
Really been liking what I am seeing. Today’s show was nice in how all of the individual stories were interesting. Maggie and Victor are as adorable as ever. Bo and Hope being cutesy detective duo. And Jack, who I am still worried some weird disease will inflict him b/c this simple story doesn’t seem real lmao, trying to get his life back and ethnicAbby (that Kate Mansi is doing WORK!) not having any of it. The only meh is John and Marlena. Their storyline is at least interesting and timely, but I have never been a fan of this pairing.
It’s kinda sad that this and OLTL are the better soaps by default, but calling a spade a spade here. When you are putting in something that is interesting and good out there, you have to be praised. Given the state NBC is in across the board I am hoping that DAYS will be given a fair shot to fight to stay on the air and at least get another renewel.
