I stepped away for like a month right before the relaunch… and I’m sure to tune in when Will Horton comes out. Should be fun. Let’s just hope this doesn’t turn into another acting reel for Alison Sweeney instead.

youngsoapfan, how are you feeling about Madison James/Sarah Brown?  Just wondering if she’s grown on you at all.

not quite. lol i’m still not impressed that she’s on my favorite soap now, but we’ll see down the road. it does seem that whenever we have the actors from other shows joining, it’s usually just temporary, aka natalia livingston, tamara braun X2, robin mattson or they get recasted.

I’ve been watching sporadically since the re-boot because I’ve heard good things but nothing really grabbed my attention until Friday’s shootout. And the promos for the next few weeks look pretty exciting. I’m gonna have to start watching on a daily basis again.

That shootout was pretty thrilling.  I thought it was clever to expose that, yes, the DiMeras (or I guess just EJ) are to blame for John’s being framed, but at the same time have someone entirely different do this shooting.  Good job on the directing with that, too.

While the official reboot might have been associated with 9/26, I feel like the actual reboot started this past Friday (11/11) with the shooting.  It looks like that is the event that is going to really propel the main stories over the next several months.  And since 11/11, the show has been great.  Some great drama!

Those scenes were great.  I love that they’re going classic Sami and just letting her unleash and be the bitch she is.  I haven’t loved hating Sami this much in a long time.  I can’t help but think back to one of my favorite Sami/Marlena/John scenes when they were at someone’s wedding (maybe Sami’s failed wedding to Austin when he married Carrie?) and Sami spits out to John, “You are NOT my father, even if you are sleeping with my mother.”  And Marlena slaps her and yells, “How DARE you?”  That is good stuff.  And of course Sami behaving like this isn’t nearly as good without the constrast of Carrie being the model stepdaughter.  Belle’s presence really didn’t have the same effect.

I totally agree! They are really going into the history of these characters and their relationships with Sami/Carrie and Sami/John.  And Sami/Marlena looks like it’s going to be a template for the Will/Sami issues that are to come.  All of these issues from nearly 20 years ago are resurfacing.  I love it when a show’s history is put to good use.  If played out correctly, these next 4 months of story could be really entertaining.

Just turned on my TV and I am seeing Ali, James, and Chandler doing WORK! And I also like how this is affecting Bo & Hope bringing back memories of baby Zack.

Watching Bo and Hope in the background of this Johnny story, and seeing how much emotion Kristian Alfonso is carrying in her face, reminds me of all the tragic and tough situations those two have endured with their children: Having to give JT to Glen and Barb, Zack’s death, and Ciara being kidnapped and then later running away.

    I can’t wait to see today’s episode!

Wow, some really great acting yesterday!  James Scott, Alison Sweeney, and Chandler Massey had the whole episode to shine, and some of the others like Kristian Alfonso, Peter Reckell, Christie Clark, and Deidre Hall had great moments.

I agree with the person that said the relaunch started on 11/11 because that was one hell of an episode.  The shootout at the Brady Pub was good.

Sweeney, Scott, Massey, Hall have all given Emmy nominated performances this week so far.  Today’s episode was “WOW!”

This is the first time I’m watching the show regularly since MELASWEN and what struck me most over the past few weeks is what a good little actor Chandler Massey is. I’m really excited to see where they take his character now that he’s turning on his mother. I hope he can take that Younger Actor Emmy next year but Chad Duell’s (Michael, GH) got an episode from the beginning of the year that’s gonna be hard to beat.

Chandler Massey’s been rocking my world.  Great work from him, and man do I love where things are with Will and Sami.  The scenes where he keeps asking her where she was and why she was nowhere to be found, without mentioning that he saw her having animal sex with EJ, where excellent, from both actors and the writers.
