LOLOL, I’m all for digging into history, but I never ever ever thought they’d resurrect the Jungle Madness, and not only is it still a thing, but these kids who didn’t even exist when it first came around have all heard stories about it.

I’d rather jungle madness than “make a Sex tape! Make a Sex tape!!!”

Wow, as much as I’ve been critical of Ron’s work in the past, he feels like the freakin’ messiah right now. I CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS TO START BEING ON MY SCREEN!

In the meanwhile, yes, more Jungle Madness and less sex tape, I guess. Haha.

While I still think the show is doing better than it had been, the last couple of weeks have really started to get pretty dull, either because the storylines just feel so silly or preposterous or because there’s not enough development as the episodes move along. For one thing, the whole story with Abigail and Dario has just been pretty ridiculous and very annoying from the get-go. I had come around to liking Dario somewhat, but now he’s as irritating as ever, and the silly writing for Abigail is doing nobody any favors in terms of helping the recast catch on with people who aren’t sold on her yet. Meanwhile, I’m also finding the Chad and Gabi scenes annoying. It’s less about not liking the pairing and more about the way they’re being written. The repetitive cycle of Gabi panicking, Chad comforting her, them having a romantic moment is not really working. It also bothers me that they’re now just brushed aside how angry Gabi was about the (silly) cursed amulet. She was blaming this amulet and by extension Chad for them ending up stuck on that island where they might die and her being separated from her daughter, but now she’s just cool with Chad because he’s available and interested? I liked the setup of all those young adult characters being stuck on the island together, but it hasn’t been used very well. It fulfilled the purpose of pushing Chad and Gabi together, but it wasn’t really necessary to strand them to accomplish that. Maybe Sonny will start listening to Paul more now that he’s afraid of losing him to the Jungle Madness, and not try to be a ruthless jerk as he’s planning to? We did get the marriage between Kate and Andre, so that was fun.

Then there’s Jade causing trouble in two storylines, which is great since Jade is such an awesome and enjoyable character. Not. Overall, it definitely feels like the show needs to be kickstarted into a better gear, which hopefully will happen soon with the start of this murder mystery coming up and RC’s work beginning to air.

Yes, it has been rough going lately, mainly because of the story lines. I don’t mind the character of Jade, but I hate seeing Tripp turn on Kayla. And the sex tape story is pretty weak. The Jungle Madness story is taking its toll. The Dario/Abigail saga is not so great either. When does RC’s work start airing?

P.S. Julie is really annoying! LOL.

The only thing that has been saving this show for me is the wonderful talented group of actors, who give their all to weak material. I am so looking forward to Ron Carlivati’s writing for the show and esp. the returns of Alison Sweeney and Chandler Massey (and the visit from Eileen Davidson). I have been watching the show, but not commenting much, because it hasn’t been worth commenting on ):

LOL, yes, Julie certainly is annoying! I feel about her pretty much how I imagine people like JJ or Claire might feel about her. I love her, and I’m glad to see her for about 10 seconds, and then she starts getting on everyone’s nerves. The story with Tripp plotting revenge against Kayla just doesn’t work for me across the board. For one thing, I think Kayla and Tripp had been a really endearing relationship, much more so than Tripp with Steve and either Kayla or Steve with Jade or Joey. And it just defies logic. He’s been spending tons of time with Kayla, and she’s given him no indication that she killed his mother or is the two-faced liar Jade claims she is, but still he runs with this dumb theory and takes everything Jade says at face value, despite the fact that Jade is clearly a liar with an ax to grind as she blames Kayla for Joey dumping her. It’s frustrating to watch.

At least the branch of story with Jennifer, Eric, Nicole and Brady has heart to it, even if I don’t love everything about it. It’s a little hard not to see Nicole’s current plight as karma for her unwillingness to forgive Eric for a drunken accident when she’s been forgiven for so many deliberate misdeeds. She’s planning a life with a man whose grandfather she tried to murder. She’s trying to get her baby from a woman to whom she gave a flesh-eating virus. She tried to have Jennifer sent to prison by blaming her for pushing her down the stairs and causing her to lose her baby, which was a lie. She’s even the reason Eric couldn’t rejoin the priesthood. Not to mention that she kept Sami’s baby from her and tried mightily to keep EJ’s baby that she was carrying away from him. I’m not rooting against Nicole here, but her constant need to remind Eric what a terrible thing he’s done after everything she’s gotten away with is just too much.

Anyway, I think RC’s work starts to air in July, and Deimos’s exit will happen before RC takes over, so there’s definitely a lot to look forward to. I’ve seen Chandler Massey, Galen Gering and Drake Hogestyn all raving about how great the scripts are.

According to a tweet from yesterday, RC’s first script is slated to air July 19. He also posted a little teaser of the first scene.

Deimos pulling a Stefano and showing up to the party disguised as a waiter to drug everyone was kind of funny, though at this point I feel like I’ve been waiting for someone to kill Deimos for like four months. I’m getting really impatient! It also seems weird that, at least by the end of yesterday’s episode, no one was thinking they’d been drugged, which seems unrealistic for people like Abigail, Nicole and Lani who have been drugged in the past for one reason or another.

Also, I know it’ll be done soon when the writing team shifts, but it’s pretty annoying that this regime has persisted so hard with John’s ISA missions. They gave Steve a get-out-of-jail-free card after Joey murdered Ava, but they don’t seem to expect him to do anything. It’s not like I need John on my screen five days a week, but it irritates me that they’re still writing him like an action hero and having him repeatedly abandon his family in the process. Both Paul and Brady were very recently at death’s door, which I would think would be enough to get him to stop this nonsense and appreciate the time he has with the people he loves.

My thoughts on Deimos’ murderer is that it is likely Chloe since she is leaving the show (; I cant’ stand her so that would be fine with me.

My other thought which I hope is way off base: Will is the murderer. (I hope not).

I wasn’t enjoying the drug-induced party but the ending made it worthwhile: Deimos is DEAD! (: Hooray! (:

I want Sami and Will back on my t.v. screen (:

the actors save this show for me.

First, I’m so thrilled Deimos is finally gone. I had warmed to the character for a while, but then he became so incredibly unlikable that I can’t believe they waited as long as they did for this murder to happen. In terms of suspects, it’s certainly hard to imagine any of the drugged bunch from the party did it. None of them seemed to have the strength or coordination for such a thing. Also, the fact that he was stabbed in the chest suggests to me that he was approached by someone he didn’t expect to be attacking him. My mom’s immediate theory was that the henchman he’d been telling about the amulet the other day is the killer, that he probably killed Deimos knowing there were any number of potential suspects at the party and then took the amulet to sell for all Deimos said it was worth. That makes a lot of sense, especially now knowing the amulet is gone, and that the person who did it was lucid enough to try to hide the body. But I also think it would be pretty unsatisfying to pin this on a nobody, and that if that was the original intention, RC may have changed things around to make the ultimate culprit someone we actually know. Chloe is a pretty good theory, though theoretically she would have already been back in New York. I can’t see them bringing Will back to immediately tie him to a murder, but who knows.

I was lukewarm on the first episode where Deimos drugged everyone, but I thought the Wednesday and Thursday episodes were quite entertaining. The ensemble really did a nice job with the altered states of the characters, and they seemed to be having fun with it. I especially loved the acting when they characters were first waking up in Thursday’s episode, which felt very realistic. I’m not sure how great it’s going to be watching this investigation unfold, with people remembering bits and pieces, variously covering it up, no one being sure what anything means, and the requisite red herrings. But maybe it’ll be better than I think. I guess we’ll see.

We can rule out J.J. and Sonny, of course! (; I hope they don’t cop out and have the murderer be a mere day player; we’ll see where it goes from here.

    My memory is that Kassie DePaiva’s Eve is supposed to come back to the show; anybody know when that will be? I am looking forward to all the returns: Eve, Samantha, Kristen and/or Susan (preferably the latter!), and esp. WILL!!!!! (;

Don’t weddings require a witness? (I guess now that would be Chad, lol!)

I’m not sure what the rule is for witnesses, not that this show is overly concerned with being accurate, LOL.

Yes, I’m looking forward to all the returns as well! Kassie DePaiva should be back on screen in late October.

I am hopelessly behind on Days right now. I am still on last week. I think I need to watch 4-5 episodes in order to catch up.

Actually, I enjoyed the drug-induced party, mainly because of Camila Banus. She rocked those scenes! It was interesting the way they hinted at remixing the couples, as if the guests were unable to hide their “true” feelings.

I predict the outcome of the murder mystery to be a new soap for NBC, a spin-off that will air at 2 pm: “Deimos Lives!” Eventually it will become so popular that it will replace “Days” altogether.
