I did find it amusing how everybody kept sending Rafe to yet one more person to get permission to marry Hope! Doug, Victor and Roman! and Julie was being annoying… again!
Geez, I can hardly remember what happened on today’s episode, besides the marriage proposal…July 6, 2017 at 2:27 pm #1202143868
I got a couple of episodes behind because of the holiday, but should be able to get caught up today. I feel like I’ve spent a good amount of time over the last few episodes being annoyed by the plot points (many a winning combination of unpleasant and nonsensical) but then find myself chuckling at the dialogue or drawn in by the performances. I can’t stop complaining about how haphazard the murder investigation seems to be so far. As of Tuesday, they’d made an arrest without even mentioning any forensics done on the murder weapon, and with evidence so paltry you could barely string together a bedtime story with it, let alone a murder conviction.July 7, 2017 at 3:57 am #1202144271
The murder mystery is actually playing better than the story of Tripp trying to frame Kayla. I understand that the character of Jade is being written out, so hopefully this story will end soon. For the murder mystery, my prediction is that Dario is the guilty party.July 7, 2017 at 4:04 am #1202144274
Dario would be a good choice. Just hoping it’s not a day player who we don’t care about whodunnit.
I love it when Marlena goes into super-shrink mode. I am convinced she really can hypnotize people! (;
I loved Julie’s talk with Hope yesterday. That was really good writing and well played by Susan Seaforth Hayes.July 7, 2017 at 9:18 am #1202144462
It hit me watching him and Abigail get married (UGH!) that Dario would be the perfect choice for Deimos’s murderer. He’d been at the party and left before being drugged, so it stands to reason he would have come back at some point. He already tried to kill Deimos in the past, and recent events would only give him more motive. And I’m sure he would have loved to get his hands on that amulet as well. Plus I get the benefit of not having to deal with Dario anymore, though it’ll break Abigail to realize she’s gotten herself entangled to another killer.
And I will say, after Marlena hypnotized Lani and they got a little more info, it was good to see Rafe actually follow up on that and get some more pieces of the puzzle. I was kind of hoping Marlena would group hypnotize everyone from the party at once. I’m not sure it’s something that can actually happen, but it would have been fun.
The Tripp/Kayla story gets high marks for both how absurd and how annoying it has been. But they seem to be turning it around, and Jade’s being written out can’t hurt at least.
The proposal scenes with Hope, Julie, and Rafe (and Doug, Victor and Roman) were pretty fun. It’s odd, though, that not even Roman or Marlena mentioned Sami or Carrie. It’s not a reason for them to disapprove of Rafe’s relationship with Hope, but it seems funny to have these two be among the Hope/Rafe cheerleaders. I would probably have preferred a one-sided phone call where Rafe talked to Shawn and Ciara, who of course love Rafe and would be happy for him and Hope. I’ve always been fine with Hope and Rafe as a couple, but the prospect of them getting married is making me rethink that. It just feels off to me.
I’m very eager to see how these pairings and stories begin to shift once RC comes in.July 11, 2017 at 10:11 am #1202148230
I am so glad they finally decided to mention that the forensics on the murder weapon showed there were no fingerprints on it. It doesn’t help find the murderer, but at least it quells some of my frustrations with the thin evidence they’ve now used to arrest two people. And it kind of suggests that the culprit was probably someone who wasn’t drugged, as they either thought to put on gloves beforehand or wipe their prints off the knife afterwards.
Other than the investigation itself, the murder mystery has had some positive developments. It’s really great seeing this crew of young adults struggling with trying to stand up and do the right thing, all wanting to help each other out where they can and really caring about each other. This has been a needed reminder that Sonny is a really good guy, for example, and JJ’s development throughout this has been really good. It has also been good to shake up the group dynamics a little and move the pieces on the board.
Monday’s episode also had some fun dialogue. Kate and Andre’s pairing has been a hoot for me, and I love seeing them go from drinking buddies to rivals for attention on the turn of a dime. This exchange is was my favorite:
Andre: She’s intimidated by my business acumen.
Kate: I’ve never been intimidated by something that doesn’t exist.
In that same episode, I also liked JJ’s reaction to Abigail having married Dario. “Did the ceremony come with fries?”July 12, 2017 at 6:52 pm #1202149540

Although, EmmyLoser, we could write you into the script for Days. I can attest that you have as much motive as anyone, with plenty of corroborating evadence on this message board. And I can totally see Ron C. writing a campy scene like that. Overall, I am just slogging through the final days of this regime. Looking forward to the next reboot.July 14, 2017 at 2:27 pm #1202152645
HA! If I were in Salem I’d be planting evidence to incriminate Dario. If I could somehow use Kayla’s apparently very easy to hack doctor tablet to get that done, all the better.
We’re almost at the latest reboot, and it’s hardly worth complaining about most of these things anymore, but a point I found genuinely confusing and so seems worth mentioning: When Lani, Hope and Rafe were talking about the key card they found for the room at the Martin House B&B, they said none of the guests from the party were staying there. But Abigail lives there, and Eric had a room as well. I briefly questioned whether those rooms could have been elsewhere, but given all of the Deimos-related shenanigans that happened outside of Abigail’s room and in that hallway, it’s clear the rooms are at the B&B. Did I mishear something, or was this just a really dumb mistake?July 14, 2017 at 2:34 pm #1202152659
We are now on page 98 on this thread; is there a particular time when we have to start a new thread? just wondering…
IDK the answer to EmmyLoser’s question about the Martin house but it’s a very good point. I have come to expect sloppiness in the writing on Days and hope this will change soon with RC as headwriter.
