Who did you think gave the very best acceptance speech from the daytime drama categories at the Daytime Emmys on Sunday?

This is simply no contest for me: Maura West’s acceptance speech was emotional, heartfelt and beautiful – and the curtsey at the end sealed it for me! (: In  a distant 2nd place was Freddie Smith’s excellent speech, and in 3rd place (surprisingly) was Jill Farren Phelps’ speech (surprising since I don’t think she deserved to win, but the content of her speech was really sweet, championing the daytime drama genre and giving a shoutout to all three of the other network shows).

Yeah, Freddie’s was definitely my favorite of the night.  Maura’s was great, and, yup, JFP was surprisingly good also.  As annoyed as I was with Y&R sharing that win, I loved what she said about the soap community.

    Maura West; simple, gracious, touching.

I was also very surprised at Jill. Nice speech. Don’t know if it was heartfelt or truthful, but nice speech.

Even though I didn’t see it for her reel, Maura West hands down. She was SO plastered, but what a great speech. I loved how she pays her Y&R time in dust, because of the way MAB treated her. And the great call back to her previous wins when she curtsy for her babies.

Maura’s speech was the best.  From the moment they called her name until she walked off the stage, she was nothing short of captivating.  The way so many of her co-stars and friends embraced her as she made her way to the stage (albeit tipsy at best) to the way she clung to Shemar Moore (who wouldn’t?), it was a real moment!  For her to acknowledge that she had been on that stage before for a completely different daytime role and felt that she was given a second great part was humbling.

I’m sorry but I felt like I was watching Jacqueline Bisset beatificate at the Golden Globes all over again as she walked to the stage. I really didn’t much care for that speech. For me, THE speech and moment of all time is La Lucci.

The winner of this poll was Maura West with 10 votes (67%)

Freddie Smith was the runner-up with 4 votes (27%)

Jill Farren Phelps received 1 vote (7%)

None of the other seven received any votes… thanks for voting! (Since this was my top three in that exact order I agree with us!)
