The Talk is about to begin – where the announcements will be made for this year’s daytime Emmy nominations will be made. Hoping for the best, not expecting the worst, thinking it will be somewhere in between –

I need for Alison Sweeney’s name to be on the Best Actress list!

    Excited but nervous!

I don’t know if I’ll post my reactions now. (I have my TV tuned to my CBS affiliate, here in an Eastern Time zone, for The Talk.) But, already, I wonder how many in that audience truly care. (Okay, only briefly do I wonder. They simply tend to follow the “Applause” instruction.)

    Enjoy the fun. Or misery.

Well, Alison Sweeney got her lead-actress nomination!

That may be the hightlight of the drama-acting noms.

Did they nominate Peggy Mccay from Days in the lead. I don’t know what she submitted but she is definitely supporting not lead.

So happy Craig Ferguson got nominated! He deserved to win. I don’t watch the Daytime soaps but the Game Show and Talk Show categories are ones I do watch for.

GH got the most acting nominations (11), Y&R got 8, Days only 4, and B&B only 3…

ALISON SWEENEY for the WIN!!! (:

Peggy McCay? What is wrong with these panelists? it’s ridiculous!

No Blake Berris is a travesty! ): Now I am rooting for Chad Duell.

Surprised, but happy, for Finola Hughes and Lisa LoCicero! (:

So happy that Maura West is nominated! (:

All four shows got Best Drama Series nominations! Go DAYS!!! (:

HALEY PULLOS!!!!!! (: And also: Camila Banus! (: (Surprised Camryn Grimes didn’t make it though)…

Hooray for Freddie Smith! (I do wish Nicholas Bechtel had submitted though)… And I wish Casey Moss had made the list instead of Max Ehrich…

B&B’s poor showing: NO Heather Tom! (: Only Scott Clifton (groan), Jacob Young and Linsey Godfrey (I suspect they submitted the late October confession episodes).

    The Guest Performer category:
    Meredith Baxter, Y&R
    Sally Kellerman, Y&R
    Donna Mills, GH
    Linda Elena Tovar, GH
    Fred Willard, B&B
    Ray Wise, Y&R

    (I’m rooting for Meredith Baxter).

All of TV Guide‘s Michael Logan’s picks, for the Best of 2014, got an Emmy nomination for acting. (In the case of Ray Wise, Logan’s supporting-actor selection, he is in the guest-performer category.) This doesn’t happen that often. (Logan has been with that publication a good 25 years!)

Lead Actress must have been tough because there are five nominees. It will be tough for Alison to win with all of these Emmy-winning actresses, but I don’t see how anyone can top her if she submits her scenes when EJ died. It would be a perfect farewell to her for her time of Days. I really hope Peggy McCay and Laura Wright are just filler. I don’t really care for Maura West this time around. Gina Tognoni was a decent recast, but she has two Emmys already.

In best actress, going by show counts, Days of Our Lives has won best actress just twice (Susan Flannery, 1975; Eileen Davidson, 2014); General Hospital has also scored just twice (Finola Hughes, 1991; Laura Wright, 2011); and The Young and the Restless has won three times (Jess Walton, 1997; Michelle Stafford, 2004; Jeanne Cooper, 2008). Interesting fact is that many of the soaps no longer active managed, commonly, just to see two individuals win lead actor or win lead actress. This was true with All My Children (Darnell Williams, 1985, and David Canary, his first in 1986, among the men and, among the women, Dorothy Lyman, 1983, and Susan Lucci, 1999); As the World Turns (Larry Bryggman, his first in 1984, and Michael Park, his first in 2010, among the men and, among the women, Martha Byrne, 2001, and Maura West, her first in 2007); and Guiding Light (Michael Zaslow, 1994, and Justin Deas, his first in that category in 1995, among the men and, among the women, Kim Zimmer, her first in 1985, and Cynthia Watros, 1998). We’re at a stage where there are only four soaps left (and they all are in contention for the 2014-15 top Emmy). So, these barriers are no longer so overwhelming.

No Camryn Grimes is probably the biggest shocker to me. I’m disappointed that Blake Berris didn’t get a nom.

Camryn Grimes should have been nominated for Younger Actress. It’s hard to believe that she was even competing for Young Actress 15 years after her first win in this category.

Im glad that after 6 seasons, Wendy Williams is nominated for Best  Entertainment Talk Show, and Best Entertainment Host!!! HOW YOU DOING…and this is the 1st time in 18 seasons that the View didn’t get best show or host. That don’t surprise me. The show is a hot ass mess!!
