With 3 1/2 more months to go, just curious which categories y’all think that certain actors/actresses belong in for their work in 2016 (so far?) Subject to change, of course! I found it laughable that Mary Beth Evans was considered a Lead Actress last year, but they allow the performers to decide which category they think they belong in… I have put in parenthesis which category I think they belong in, wondering if we see it the same way?

Here is who I think are LEAD actors for their work in 2016; any names you think should be added or subtracted? I think of leads as actors who are on a great deal and have strong storylines of their own.

    Lead Actor:

Darin Brooks, Scott Clifton and Thorsten Kaye (B&B)

John Aniston, Billy Flynn, Vincent Irizarry and Stephen Nichols (Days)

Maurice Benard, Tyler Christopher, William deVry and Billy J Miller (GH)

Peter Bergman, Eric Braeden, Justin Hartley, Joshua Morrow and Kristoff St John (Y&R)

    Lead Actress:

Linsey Godfrey, Jacqueline MacInnes Wood, Rena Sofer and Heather Tom (B&B)

Kristian Alfonso, Mary Beth Evans, Kate Mansi and Melissa Reeves (Days)

Rebecca Budig, Nancy Lee Grahn, Kelly Monaco, Maura West and Laura Wright (GH)

Sharon Case,Melissa Clare Egan and Gina Tognoni (Y&R)

So, I am suggesting that everyone else is either Supporting or Younger…

My selections are similar to Freeman’s. Freeman, I like all of your choices and the ones that are not on my list are runners-up.

    Lead Actor
Darin Brooks, The Bold & the Beautiful
Scott Clifton, The Bold & the Beautiful
Billy Flynn, Days of our Lives
Justin Hartley, The Young & the Restless
Kristoff St. John, The Young & the Restless

    Lead Actress
Rena Sofer, The Bold & the Beautiful
Heather Tom, The Bold & the Beautiful
Jacqueline MacInnes Wood, The Bold & the Beautiful
Melissa Reeves, Days of our Lives
    Nancy Lee Grahn, General Hospital
Melissa Claire Egan, The Young & the Restless

    Supporting Actor
Obba Babatunde, The Bold & the Beautiful
Greg Vaughan, Days of our Lives
    Ryan Carnes, General Hospital
    Parry Shen, General Hospital
Miles Gaston Villanueva, The Young & the Restless

    Supporting Actress
Suzanne Rogers, Days of our Lives
Arianne Zucker, Days of our Lives
    Vinessa Antoine, General Hospital
    Jane Elliot, General Hospital
    Genie Francis, General Hospital
Camryn Grimes, The Young & the Restless

I feel like Melissa Claire Egan should be considered for a nomination. She delivers her material with passion and conviction, despite the mind-numbing repetitiveness of her story lines.

Although John Aniston is not on contract, he could submit in Lead. He has had significant screen time this year. Last year, Tracey Bregman was nominated in Lead, and she is not on contract.

Ryan Carnes and Parry Shen have not had much screen time, but they have delivered some powerful performances. Both of these gentlemen always bring their A-games.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Melissa Reeves and Nancy Lee Grahn submit in the supporting category, but who knows?

Sasha is played by Felisha Cooper. I did not do the younger categories because the options are so limited. I think I would substitute Rome Flynn for Tequan Richmond (who has had very little screen time this year), but aside from that my choices are all the same as Freeman’s.

These look like fine choices of actors, and actually my biggest quibble would be a couple of category placements. I could see Linsey Godfrey being considered lead, though I think of her as supporting. She hasn’t really been on much since the truth about Douglas’s paternity came out, and in hindsight it feels like the story was all about Ridge and Thomas. I’d put Katherine Kelly Lang in lead instead. And I’d definitely have to place Melissa Reeves in the supporting category as well. It seemed like she was getting this big, juicy story and would have tons of screen time, but the show very much neglected the character and the story as it progressed, and she was barely on once a week. I would say Arianne Zucker has been a lead this year, however. I might consider Don Diamont a lead as well.

Since I have missed a lot of Days episodes this year, I would defer to you, EmmyLoser, for that show’s category placement.

Linsey Godfrey does not quite feel like a lead to me. She seemed to be moving in that direction last year, but she has not had much screen time this year and is not driving story as much as other characters. Lang certainly could go in Lead as she has had a big storyline this year; same with Diamont.
