Yes, Daytime Soaps are a dying breed.  What are the predictions on the lifespan left of the remaining soaps on air currently?

    Y&R –  3 -5 years left
    GH – 1 or 2 years left
B&B – indefinitely since it has a smaller cast and is a 30 minute show.  Most economically feasible to continue.
DOOL – 5 plus years – I think that it will survive if actors pay cuts can happen as well as a slightly smaller cast.  Definite changes will need to happen for its long term survival.

One hour drama’s are expensive to produce so it is getting much harder for the remaining soaps to continue.

I could see DOOL and Y&R reducing their casts and doing a 30 minute show for their survival.

Yes, soaps are going in the direction of being a dying breed.

ON-Line drama’s seem to be the wave of the future or off net soaps in cable appear to be the alternative, generally speaking.

    Well this is morbid.

I’m still hoping one of these shows somehow figures out that thing that no one’s figured out yet and we see a total rebirth as a result.
