Really disappointed Camryn Grimes isn’t nominated; but ECSTATIC that Haley Pullos IS! (:

    1. HALEY PULLOS as Molly Lansing Davis. She broke my heart when Ric “died”. The reading of the letter from her dad had me in tears. She was great earlier too when Molly and T.J. were thinking about having sex. I am so glad she is FINALLY an Emmy nominee!!!

    2. CAMILA BANUS as Gabi Hernandez, Days Of Our Lives. Her Emmy submission should be her confession scene, where she confesses to Hope that she killed Nick. Brilliant acting! I liked Gabi more than most – glad she got nominated!

    3. KRISTEN ALDERSON as Kiki Jerome, General Hospital. I miss her and wish her well. She always performed best with her elders: Maura West, Michael Easton and esp. Roger Howarth. Not sure what scene she submitted; it will be interesting to find out which episode…

    4. HUNTER KING as (blanking out on her name!), The Young and the Restless. She won last year, and I suspect she’s going to win again ): I don’t like her acting choices, although her recent work has been an improvement (in 2015). I guess scenes with Phyllis, when she came back after her coma?

^^  as above and for those reasons, though I might switch the rankings of KA and HK.

Love this crop of contenders, but Hunter could have EASILY been switched out with Camryn Grimes. Not only is Camryn a more superior actor, but she had amazing material last year and variety of scenes to choose from. Shocked.

    1) Haley Pullos, General Hospital – About time she is on here! She has a perfect submission reel in Ric’s homecoming scene on the Christmas episode. VERY reminscent to Kristen Alderson’s reel from 2013 which resulted in her first nom & win! (Starr avenges Cole and Hope’s death)
    2) Camila Banus, Days of our Lives – I cant wait to see her tape, I hear it was brilliant. Her win would be a nice pairing with Ali Sweeney’s 🙂
    3) Kristen Alderson, General Hospital – Don’t know what she could have submitted, but it was probably solid…
    4) Hunter King, Young and the Restless – Don’t know what she submitted, but it probably involved crying.

Funny that Pullos might have a reel reminiscent of Alderson’s winning submission, and Banus’s performance reminds me of King’s winning reel from last year.  I definitely would have swapped out King for Camryn Grimes this year, and I’d be happy to see Pullos or Banus win.  The fact that we’re all agreeing means it almost defnitely won’t happen, right?

Banus submitted the brilliant confession episode where her character admits to murdering Nick Fallon…..she is a true threat for the win in this case.

She could not have picked a better epsiode…it was one of the finest acting performances on DAYS in 2014 IMO.

    So, I sat down
and watched all of the reels today that are posted so far on Pop’s
website.  Here’s how I would rank the
contenders and a little about my thoughts on each reel.

    1. Camilla Banus:
      WOW!  I remember loving this
performance when it aired, but it was even better than I remember when it’s cut
down to just her scenes.  It has such a
great build and tells a full arc from start to finish.  Her story would also be really easy to follow
for someone not familiar with it.  There
is a lot of emotional depth and range in her performance, which is especially
impressive to me considering I never used to think she was that strong.  To me, this is far and the above the best
      reel.

    2. Haley Pullos:  Another
good, emotional reel.  I thought this was
a good performance, but it wasn’t as good to me as Camilla’s.  I really did feel her emotion though, and I
think in other years, she could have won with this reel.   There
were moments where I felt like she was overshadowed by Nancy Lee Grahn and it
sometimes felt like it was her reel.  I
wish she had chosen the episode where she gets Rick’s effects and reads the
letter he left her; that, for me, was a better overall performance, but this
      was a solid performance nonetheless.

    3. Kristen Alderson:
A solid overall performance, but it was mostly one-note.  She did I good job with the anger and the
hurt, but the reel was on mostly one level the whole time and she didn’t get
the opportunity to show a lot of range.  The last scene was very strong though as she
was leaving, and she ended the reel very strongly, which is always a good
      thing.

    4. Hunter King:
Not a terrible performance, but I am kind of baffled by this episode
choice.  There were some nice, subtle
moments between her and Joshua Morrow, but she never had any big fireworks and
she didn’t reel show any range or depth.
I thought the episode before this where she first finds out from Jack
and Phyllis that Nick is actually her father would have made a better choice.  Not to take anything away from her
nomination, but it surprises me that this reel got her a nomination and Camryn
Grimes did not get one, unless Camryn completely botched her submission.

As II’ve written elsewhere, I think both Ms. Pullos and Ms. Banus deliver superb performances (I do wish that Haley Pullos had submitted the Ric’s effects/letter episode – she would absolutely have won with it – I always wonder why they don’t know what their best work is, and why they don’t just come on here and ask us! LOL!) I would be fine with either of them winning. I place Haley Pullos slightly in first – only because she has done better work overall over the years and is more deserving of recognition. With that said, I have the feeling that the panel won’t see it our way and just might give Hunter King a second Emmy – there is no accounting for it; it’s a gut feeling. I go into greater detail in the Emmy submission thread, but my rankings are the same as they were before I saw the reels:(btw, I am in almost complete agreement with Cmovt21, but I didn’t like Ms. King’s submission at all – really dull and I was bored half-way through it, just wanted it to end already)

    1. Haley Pullos, GH
    2. Camila Banus, Days
    3. Kristen Alderson, GH
    4. Hunter King, Y&R

This is most definitely a race between Haley and Camila. Both had similarly-formatted reels, emotions-wise.

    1. Camila Banus, DAYS – She completely owned the 7 minutes from start to finish. She deserves it.

    2. Haley Pullos, GH – She’s definitely an outstanding younger actress. As i’ve said before, this performance was very reminiscent of Kristen Alderson’s winning reel in 2013 to me. She also shares the screen with veterans, Nancy Grahn and Finola Hughes.

    3. Kristen Alderson, GH – This wasn’t bad, but it doesn’t display her and her acting well at all. The reel was more Chad Duell-centric.

    4. Hunter King, Y&R – This jumped the line of over-acting a lot. She’s not an awful actress, but her performance came off as extremely whiny and it sung the same note as her “winning” tape from last year.

I think the same way about Hunter… I truly do have a gut feeling that she’s going to pull a Jennifer Landon/Chandler Massey/Jennifer Finnigan and keep on winning for the next 2 years. Don’t understand why…

Quoting this post because it will make mine that much easier.  I agree with these rankings, and for the reasons given.  I watched all of the reels, and the only possible switch I would make would be for Haley and Kristen for 2nd and 3rd.  Both reels were fine, but Kristen’s last few seconds packed a punch.  And Haley’s was *slightly* overshadowed by NLG at times, and I think that would affect my own personal rankings.  But if you’re arguing between 2nd and 3rd, it’s a bit moot.

Either way, it’s clear to me that Camila Banus had the best reel of the four actresses.  There really is no comparison here, IMO.  Great emotion, great story, great impact.  Fear, sadness, guilt.  It was all there.  And when she talked about Nick being “so surprised”?  Boom.

    1. Camila Banus

    2. Kristen Alderson (or Haley Pullos)

    3. Haley Pullos (or Kristen Alderson)

    4. Hunter King

Banus’ submission was superior, but watch out for King.  She won for less last year.  Pullos wasn’t bad, but it was a lot of crying.  And speaking of crying, Ms. Alderson didn’t deliver.  She was good, but not great.

    1.  Banus
    2.  King
    3.  Pullos
    4.  Alderson

I watched all the reels and they were just…OK to me….so here are my rankings.

    1) Kristen Alderson – Yes I think she should win this year. Her tape was one note, BUT it was a good note. She catches her boyfriend in bed with another women and ask him why he would do this to her when they love each other. Since Kristen and Chad are a couple in real life I wonder how hard was that scene to shoot.  Its not Kristen’s best performances,  but I liked her reel the most cause she gave a solid perfomance to me.

    2) Haley Pullos – She learns that her father have died. She was good in this reel. She showed grief and hurt over loosing her father and cried real tears. Its was nice nothing too special, but still good enough that I won’t be surprised if she wins the Emmy. Her main problem is that she is out shined by Nancy Lee Grahm. But Nancy is one of those people that can read the Newspapaer and make it look good.

    3) Camila Banus – Let me say this: Too many people on this site OVER HYPED her performance!! I was expecting to be blown away, and I wasn’t.. I hate when an actress ‘cries’ and no tears comes out. Its a nice tape. But to me she didn’t do anything special. just ok.

    4) Hunter King – Boring..Bland..Why is she here over Camryn Grimes?!?!? I mean really…

I watched these last night.  On the whole, I thought
the young ladies’ reels were much stronger than the young men’s.
I did not have a tough time picking out the
best, but they were quite good overall.

    Hunter King,
    Y&R:
      I like this performance from
King so much better than the endless tearfest that won her last year’s Emmy in
    this category.
      There’s nothing all that
huge in this, but she hits all the emotions well.
      It’s sweet.
It’s funny to me that all three of the Y&R winners from last year
submitted from the same story thread for this year’s Emmys, despite both King
and Amelia Heinle having other options.

    Kristen Alderson,
    GH:
I remember seeing this the first time
and thinking that Alderson did a really good job.
It helps that she has to be hurt and
remorseful and angry from one moment to the next, and she puts it together
    seamlessly.
      Kiki seems fairly devastated
by the time she leaves the apartment, which makes for a good ending.

Haley Pullos, GH:  This is a great performance from Pullos.  She’s pitch perfect in the first couple of minutes,
devastated by what’s happened, desperate to see her father one last time.
Unfortunately, after that the reel gets a
little distracted with the plot shenanigans that are happening, with Anna
trying to make sure that Molly doesn’t see her father, who is actually not
    dead.
      These drawbacks of the episodes
kind of limit Pullos’s potential to impress in the second half of the reel.

Camila Banus, DAYS:  This reel feels like a winner, and Banus has
a lot going for her in it.
      She’s telling
a story that is pretty complete; she is commanding the attention for the entire
reel; and the reel is a decent length.
      I
found her captivating as Gabi recounted how she came to murder Nick and
    why.
Banus could have been content to
just weep her way through the confession, but she really takes advantage of all
the notes in the dialogue to layers and inflections of emotion.
I saw this when it aired, and I did not
realize now good it was at the time.

    Despite a strong
performance from Pullos, Banus is, for me, firmly in the lead.
All of the reels are good, and you never know
what will happen, but I really think Banus will pull off the win.

    1. Camila Banus
    2. Haley Pullos
    3. Kristen Alderson
    4. Hunter King
