Apparently, there are reels for these categories as well. The ones for Drama Actress have just been posted on the emmys youtube page. I might check them out…I know nothing about these shows.

I actually have watched The Bay, EastSiders, Winterthorne and Anacostia. Mary Beth Evans is really good on The Bay – she’s the lead character. But my heart is with Elizabeth Hubbard! Martha Bryne won last year but wasn’t nominated this year. Kathleen Gati is a hoot on Winterthorne! I am looking forward to watching these! (: thanks for sharing this!

Just finished watching these reels and thay are all so FANTASTIC! (: How to rank them, IDK, they all deserve to win! The Bay is especially good, look for it.

    In alphabetical order:

Mary Beth Evans as Sara Garrett in The Bay. Her reel is about Sar’s first day in prison. It’s grim and she gets to display plenty of emotion. She’s the lead on the show. She will be helped by the fact that she’s in two of the other reels. Really good work from her!

Kathleen Gati as Valentina Winterthorne in Winterthorne. She’s trying to get the seeds for the chocolate and she is terrorizing the lead character (played by Martha Madison). It’s a death scene – she’s fiery, fierce, crazy, and her reel builds. Simlar to Dr. Olbrecht but without the thick accent.

Elizabeth Hubbard as Eva Montgomery in Anacostia. She’s searching for Jason. She has kidnapped a madam (played by Martha Byrne) who she thinks knows where Jason might be. Liz is fiery and fierce and very much like Lucinda. It was so much fun to see her and her Lily together again! If I want her to win, it’s mostly because I think she should have 3 Emmys and one of them should have been for ATWT. It was just so great to see her again.

Lily Melgar as Janice Ramos in The Bay. Her character has been raped and is highly emotional. She has flashbacks to the rape, and is visited by her vindictive daughter. her scenes are the most soapy and emotional. Mary Beth Evans has a minute in her reel at the memorial service that is quite good.

Patsy Pease as Lola Baker in The Bay. She plays a looney prison inmate, truly crazy, who taunts Sarah. Hers is the most fun of the reels. Totally different than her work on Days. It’s nice to see her in such a different role! Mary Beth Evans is great in this reel and is in all of the scenes.

Any of these actresses could win, they are all so good! I am rooting for Elizabeth Hubbard but think Mary Beth Evans is going to win.

By the way: digital dramas are wonderful! The Bay has great production values and reminds me of Sunset Beach and Santa Barbara. Anacostia has been around for awhile now and is worth checking out. Winterthorne only has four episodes and is crazy but fun.

Look for the defunct Venice – Crystal Chappell and esp. Hillary B Smith are esp. good in it. EastSiders is a gay soap with Van Hansis and Kit Williamson in the leads and is great. I loved Beacon Hill and am hoping they produce a 2nd season. There are several others I have seen an episode or two but I wish there was just one place for all of them. More viewers wil mean more soaps.

I just need to say: all five of the actresses deliver superb performances! Anyone can win and it would be right….
