    DRAMA SERIES

I think the above soaps will be the nominees.  Anyone got a coin that I can borrow to flip?

Didn’t think of that, but that could very well happen and those two shows would do it. B&B was the ratings smash and GH was the Cinderella story of last year.

B&B is the frontrunner here. A fitting tribute to one of the greats. Frank really should’ve paired the following episode of that bad water story instead of the baby switch (ego thing maybe since he directed). That could cost the current champ the nomination and continue the trend he had over at OLTL w/submitting bad. DAYS is the underdog here. That stunt ep. didn’t really have the gravitas of their last big sweep episode they got nominated a few yrs. under the leadership of the great Ed Scott, but it was sure entertaining. I haven’t seen the other episode. OLTL will have to settle for potential acting nods (Alderson and Howarth) and hope they get in for the other big categories (directing and writing). It would be cool to see Cartini pull off a first (EP and HW being double nominated, but I don’t think it’ll happen). Logan is on the money about Y&R w/how it can get in based on name recognition, but I have to say don’t sleep on those episodes. MTS sells the shit out of the material and those were some well produced episodes. Making some changes to my predix.

I disagree, the baby switch is the great episode of from GH. They should of pair it with the Thanksgiving episode. I wonder if for OLTL if the should of gone with the Bewteen Heaven and Hell episodes instead since it won DGA

The Daytime Emmys are always impossible to predict. But unfortunately, the two least deserving shows of the year (Y&R and B&B) probably have the best shot of getting in just because they submitted back-to-back episodes that tell one easy to follow story. I could definitely see DAYS and GH losing points for submitting two eps that have nothing to do with each other. And I have to say, I completely disagree with Logan’s assessment of GH’s reels. I thought the baby switch eps were pretty underwhelming but the poisoned water ep with John Ingle’s final scenes and a phenomenal performance from Jane Elliot was excellent.

The Edward/Tracy stuff in the GH episode is great, but the for me the scenes at the docks suck all the credibility right out of the episode.  Not that it matters now because all of the shows are nominated!  Do we know if shows are allowed to change their episode picks before the final judging?  I would think back-to-back episodes would play better than nonsequential ones, unless the one episodes informs the other in an interesting way (two separate crests in a single story, or a beginning and climax of a story, something like that).  I don’t hate the DAYS submissions, but they could definitely find a pair of episodes to serve them better than these two.
