Hello. It’s been a year since I last posted but I was wondering if anyone know what the soaps are submitting for Drama Series? I saw from soapcentral that DAYS submitted Ben interrupted the double wedding announcing Will was alive and JJ contemplating suicide which could win DAYS Best Drama. Just want to know what B&B, GH and Y&R submitted.April 19, 2018 at 4:25 pm #1202532627
^those are excellent submissions from Days; two superb episodes! (:
Haven’t heard anything yet; most years it seems we don’t know until the last few days before the awards. It’s impossible to predict without knowing the information….April 19, 2018 at 5:25 pm #1202532659
I think those 2 episodes would also be great for DAYS for directing submissions as well, hopefully they submitted similar for that category as well.April 19, 2018 at 5:53 pm #1202532669
GH should submit the back to back episodes after the Nurses Ball in May. Ava, Carly, Sonny in the warehouse confrontation that went up in flames and Helena, Jake, Elizabeth, Anna, Valentin back in the showroom when the toxin was about to be released. I can see them winning best drama series for the 3rd straight year if they select from those two thrilling shows. The acting from everyone was on another level and the tension was crazy intense till the last second.
Y&R should submit from the Chloe and Kevin aborted wedding when Chelsea found out she killed Adam. This was one of if not the best episodes on daytime last year and every second of it screamed out emmy. I would go back to back episodes in the buildup and fallout from that one night.
B&B? I’ve got nothing that can stand up to the other three soaps.April 19, 2018 at 6:18 pm #1202532677
I got nothing for B&B either.
Y&R, yes Chelsea crashing Kevin and Chloe’s wedding. Ashley’s biological father being revealed. Dina and Graham, the Alzheimer’sApril 20, 2018 at 8:59 am #1202533030
Hmm. I’m not sure how the whole episodes would play, but based on what I’ve seen in the acting reels, I was much more into the stuff surrounding Ashley’s paternity reveal and Dina and Graham than the Chloe/Kevin wedding and Chelsea finding out she killed Adam stuff. Maybe I’d feel different watching a whole episode or two of either.
Those are good episodes DAYS submitted, certainly competitive. I would love to see all the submissions together.April 23, 2018 at 5:40 pm #1202534639
Drama Series have been updated on soap Central.
B&B submitted Liam and Steffy’s wedding in Australia and Bill blowing up Spectra with Liam and Sally inside. Bill blowing up Spectra is strong but Liam and Steffy’s wedding is NOT. B&B won’t win.
GH submitted the Nurses Ball with Mario Lopez hosting and ‘Patient 6’ reveal. Oh God, I have a feeling GH is going to win. Emmys, if you have any sense please don’t give GH a third win for best drama series.
Still working on finding out what Y&R’s submitted………….
DAYS looks set to be out after what GH submitted.April 24, 2018 at 3:04 am #1202534884
I disagree; Days has much stronger submissions than GH. It’s between Days and Y&R imo. We will know on Sunday…. I assume Y&R will submit Alzheimer’s related material, which would be wise, perhaps the reveal that Ashley is not an Abbott?April 24, 2018 at 5:47 am #1202534934
Which Nurses’ Ball ep did GH submit? It sounds like the red carpet which would be incredibly stupid. The aftermath of the Nurses’ Ball with the epic Sonny/Carly/Ava showdown/fire and the Jake/chimera stuff (a story I hated but the climax would probably play well out of context) would have been hard to beat. The red carpet stuff is cute and fluffy but has no substance and should never get anywhere near an Emmy reel.
And which Patient 6 ep did they submit? If it’s Jason coming through the skylight at the MetroCourt then that’s a fantastic episode. But that description could also apply to the scenes where Ava finds Patient 6 in Europe, Sonny finds Patient 6 at the safehouse, or the scenes where Andre comes clean at the PCPD and reveals that Patient 6 is the real Jason and “Jason” is Drew.April 24, 2018 at 6:07 am #1202534955
Episode 1 Synopsis: The episode revolves around the 2017 Nurses Ball. Mario Lopez hosts the show’s Red Carpet, Sonny Corinthos learns that Morgan’s medication had been tampered with, and an unsuspecting Jake Webber prepares to release a deadly toxin.
Episode 2 Synopsis: Jason and Sam Morgan hold a gala at the Metro Court to celebrate the launch of their new company, Aurora. During the festivities, “Patient 6” crashes through the skylight… and the revelers realize that “Patient 6” has the same face that Jason Morgan used to have.
Still think GH could win………..
STILL NO WORD on what Y&R submitted!

So episode 1 was a bad choice. That episode is all buildup and they weren’t smart enough to pair it with one of the subsequent episodes that had the payoff. But episode 2 is exciting, tense and dramatic and might be enough to get them a 3rd consecutive drama series win.
DAYS submitted two really strong, impactful episodes that should make them competitive.
The problem is both shows submitted 2 episodes that have nothing to do with each other. If Y&R submits 2 strong episodes that tell a full, cohesive story, then they might take it.
B&B has no chance.April 24, 2018 at 6:38 am #1202534968
GH has zero chance of winning for a 3rd straight year based on that completely ludicrous May 23rd submission. This was a mostly campy filler episode on the first day of the Nurses Ball 2017 and it’s crazy that this was one of their choices for outstanding “drama” series. The second episode they chose was a great thrilling hour with the action packed Oct 27th submission. I think this will be the most “exciting” single episode to the voting panel. Jason making his return to Port Charles by coming down through the skylight to save Sam in front of a shocked room was the soap opera OMG moment of 2017. GH would have been a serious contender to three peat if they chose the May 26th episode to pair up with the Oct 27th episode. The great confrontation between Ava/Carly/Sonny in the warehouse that ended up in flames was super intense and there was some compelling drama going on in the showroom on the same day with Jake/Helena. GH must be satisfied with the back to back emmy’s cause they took the show out of the running with that nothing May 23rd episode. A very odd strange choice when you had a red hot episode a few days later and many more drama heavy episodes from last year.
B&B also made such an absurd selection. The wedding between Steffy and Liam was a drama free location shoot episode. WTF? The second one of Bill having Spectra demolished was a good choice, but they have no chance of winning cause it’s paired with the first episode.
DOOL’s path to victory will only be stopped if Y&R gets it right in their two selections.April 24, 2018 at 8:54 am #1202535051
I heard so many great things about that GH episode with Jason crashing through the skylight. I wish I’d seen it. Even though the first episode sounds like a ridiculous choice, I still have a hard time counting GH out if they do have the single most exciting episode in the bunch.
That said, it sounds like DAYS has a slightly better shot. I agree that the Liam/Steffy wedding was a poor choice for B&B. It’s like bragging to the other shows that B&B has money and they don’t. I do wish DAYS had submitted episodes that were related to one another. They had so many strong episodes in the fall, and I’m sure it was hard to pick two, and would have been even harder to limit themselves to closely related episodes. I would have skipped the wedding and leaned more fully into an episode that was dealing with the Theo shooting and Will’s return.
