Freeman, what would really be fun is if we had to sit down and make this ballot together, coming to a mutual consensus through debate and discussion.  We have a lot of the same actors, and I like your choices even though I did not include them all on my ballot.

robbalto, 31 the same and only 11 that are different! (:

Chad Duell came in 6th for me. Loved his work early in the year, not so much later.

    The only one I totally disagree with you on is Laura Wright ): I don’t like her decibel level in her acting and didn’t find her to have done anything special in 2015. It doesn’t help that she usually interacts with my least favorite actor, lol! (;

Surprised you placed MTS in lead? She’s always solid but… I am so surprised that you have no love for Finola Hughes’ Anna, who did incredibly strong work in 2015. And no Kristian Alfonso? I personally loved Deidre Hall’s work in 2015, she had chemistry with EVERYONE!

Love Darin Brooks and Ryan Carnes! Both are excellent choices but I went with the Days men. No love for John Aniston? Those scenes when Sonny was stabbed blew me away!

I’m very meh on LInsey Godfrey, but I love Lisa Lo and Vinessa Antoine! Supporting Actress was the toughest category, by far. Lauralee Bell was fantastic, hated leaving her out. Rena Sofer is always great, but she needs more material. MTS could have made it in to supporting for me.

Joey Luthman was great and I would like to edit my post and add Robin Mattson to Guest Performer – I forgot that she was on the show at the beginning of the year. She’s one of my all-time favorites.

GH had all those special episodes that were great but it was so inconsistent I left it off my Series list. I’m sure GH and Y&R will submit well for writing emmy but again their inconsistency kept them off my list for 2015.

There were so many great performances I left out: Jen Lilley, Lauralee Bell, Ryan Carnes, Parry Shen, Nancy Lee Grahn, Vinessa Antoine, Doug Davidson, Tyler Christopher, the actress who played young Pat on GH, Peggy McCay, Suzanne Rogers, Lauren Koslow, Eric Martsolf, Kirsten Storms, probably others! (:

Looking forward to the Goldies! (:

I was on and off with viewing the daytime soaps throughout the year 2015.

Here are the performances I want nominated (and I don’t single out too many; thus giving a more precious feeling): The Bold and the Beautiful leads Karla Mosley and Jacob Young, as well as guest stars Obba Babatundé and Anna Maria Horsford—all in connection with the transgender storyline (which wasn’t perfect but was memorable in its execution).… Days of Our Lives, on so many counts, that I would like every category covered—and, frankly, I think the 50-year-old serial should numerically lead all soaps for performance noms. (I’m lately more sensitively appreciating 88-year-old Peggy McCay who is sublime as Caroline. And I would love to see Bryan Dattilo, very underappreciated for much of his 20-plus years of on and off playing Lucas Roberts, also crack the race.) … Also worthy: General Hospital‘s Bryan Craig and The Young and the RestlessLauralee Bell and Justin Hartley. (Hartley is the only one among these GH/Y&R players who should be in the running for a lead-acting nomination. The rest carry supporting roles. And, frankly, with Y&R getting numerous individuals nominated for lead actor over the past few years…we may see Hartley, who turns 39 on January 29, land a well-earned lead-actor nomination.)

By the way: I haven’t followed the discussions here close enough to understand, not yet, whether the special guest-acting category—which was introduced last year and won in a three-way tie by The Bold and the Beautiful‘s Fred Willard, General Hospital‘s Donna Mills, and The Young and the Restless‘ Ray Wise—will be opened up a little more for more numerical entires. If the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences were running this smartly (and I’m not saying just yet whether or not they actually are), Mills and Wise would be back with 2015-16 nominations along with a salute to the first-season excellence of Obba Babatunde, Anna Maria Horsford, and Dee Wallace (who guest-starred as the much-referred but long-distance sister to Anthony Geary’s and Jacklyn Zeman’s characters on General Hospital). I want this category to welcome more opportunity. (I’d love for guest acting to be broken in two—one for males, one for females; just like with the prime-time Emmys.) By doing that, prizing guest performances can have more credibility. And these guest performers are another important part of the overall acting quality from any given television series—daytime, prime-time, anytime—presented during an eligibility period.

    There were some
categories that I just couldn’t decide on, so that’s where there are 6 in some
of the categories.  I also wanted to try
to stick to only 2 shows for the show, writing, and directing categories, rather
than just throwing them all in there like they did last year!  I really wanted to include Camryn Grimes for younger actress, but she wasn’t really given any worthy material this year unfortunately.

Here is my list at this point, but I’m not completely sold on these picks so may change them down the road.

    Outstanding Drama/Writing/Directing
    B&B
    DOOL
    GH
    Y&R
They all did very well in each of these categories with certain independent arcs, so I decided to include all shows in all three categories.  The winners are totally dependent on how wisely each show submits.

    Lead Actor
    Jacob Young, B&B
    Billy Flynn, DOOL
    Freddie Smith, DOOL
    Tony Geary, GH
    Justin Hartley, Y&R
I went with 5 here, though I think only one of the gents from DOOL will get in and that one will be FS.

    Should win:  Justin Hartley
    Will win:  Tony Geary

    Lead Actress
    Kassie DePaiva, DOOL
    Laura Wright, GH
    Amelia Heinle, Y&R
    Kelly Sullivan, Y&R
I wanted to include Finola here, but she’s been overlooked with better material.

    Should win:  Kassie DePaiva
Will win:  One of whoever is nominated from Y&R

    Supporting Actor
    Robert Scott Wilson, DOOL
    Ryan Carnes, GH
    Doug Davidson, Y&R
    Burgess Jenkins, Y&R
I imagine that the nominees will not look anything like this (DD will submit Lead per his habit, and I can’t imagine three new faces being nominated in any category), but this is my dream ballot so I’ll keep dreaming.

    Supporting Actress
    Michelle Stafford, GH’
    Judi Evans, DOOL
    Lauralee Bell, Y&R
    Cady McClain, Y&R
I don’t know if LB still submits, but if she doesn’t, I imagine JMW would take her place.

Should win: any of the above
    Will win: Stafford

    Younger Actor
    Casey Moss, DOOL
    Bryan Craig, GH
    Nicholas Bechtel, GH

    Should win: Casey Moss
    Will win: Casey Moss

    Younger Actress
    Reign Edwards, B&B
    True O’Brien, DOOL
    Brooklyn Rae Silzer, GH

    Should win: BRS
    Will win: Edwards

    Guest Performer
    Eileen Davidson, DOOL
    Dee Wallace, GH
    Elizabeth Hendrickson, Y&R

    Should win: Hendrickson
    Will win: Hendrickson

What are your dream predictions for the Entertainment and Informative Talk Show and Talk Show Host categories?

Leon 94, I didn’t predict in these categories because I don’t watch those shows but you are very welcome to share your dream ballot and get the conversation going in those categories if you wish (:

btw, why do I keep on insisting that Patricia Crowley is Dee Wallace Stone? I have it lodged in my head; I think it’s because they look so very similar.

btw, I don’t think Obba Babbatunde and Anna Maria Horsford will be deemed eligible for Guest Performer because they are still on B&B as recurring characters??

EmmyLoser had found some vague rules that made it sound like they have opened up the Guest Performer category but it’s still not 100% certain…

I am curious to see how they handle the guest
actor category this year, as the rules are really vague, as Freeman pointed
out.  I looked at both the rules from this year and last year, and the
only difference is that this year it says any actor or actress who has made a
“limited” number of appearances, whereas last year they had to have
debuted in the calendar year.  I was curious how many episodes some
of the nominees last year appeared in, so I looked into it.  Two of the
winners, Ray Wise and Donna Mills, appeared in 49 and 34 episodes.  In
comparison, Obba has appeared in 33 episodes, and Anna Maria in 34.  Based
on last year’s “logic” they would be eligible.  If I remember
correctly from last year, I believe it was just anyone who wasn’t on contract who
appeared that year, so I guess I would assume it would be the same this year,
minus the “appearing this year” requirement.

Interesting how we seem to have a LOT of category placement issues this year.  I have seen Kassie De Paiva, Finola Hughes, Melody Thomas Scott as both Lead and Supporting in different people’s ballots.

Also think it’s interesting that I notice a generational change in our picks for Lead Actor, with Justin Hartley, Billy Flynn, Freddie Smith, etc. and little mention of perennial nominees Peter Bergman, Eric Braeden, Maurice Benard, Tony Geary.

Anyway, here’s my dream ballot, not including Writing/Directing/Show since we only have four shows left, and not including Guest Performer because I don’t know the rules yet.

    Lead Actress:
    Finola Hughes (Anna, GH)
    Kristian Alfonso (Hope, DOOL)
    Karla Mosley (Maya, B&B)
*** Would be willing to bump up Kassie DePaiva, but I still think she’s Supporting. ***

    Lead Actor:
    Justin Hartley (Gabe/Adam, Y&R)
    Billy Flynn (Chad, DOOL)
    Freddie Smith (Sonny, DOOL)
    Eric Braeden (Victor, Y&R)
    Joshua Morrow (Nicholas, Y&R)

    Supporting Actress:
    Judi Evans (Adrienne, DOOL)
    Kassie DePaiva (Eve, DOOL)
    Lauralee Bell (Christine, Y&R)
    Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki, Y&R)
    Deidre Hall (Marlena, DOOL)
    Jessica Collins (Avery, Y&R)

    Supporting Actor:
    Kristoff St. John (Neil, Y&R)
    Bryan Dattilo (Lucas, DOOL)
    Doug Davidson (Paul, Y&R)
    Christopher Sean (Paul, DOOL)
    Don Diamont (Bill, B&B)

    Younger Actor:
    Casey Moss (JJ, DOOL)
    Nicholas Bechtel (Spencer, GH)
    Pierson Fode (Thomas, B&B)
    Rome Flynn (Zende, B&B)

    Younger Actress:
    Brooklyn Rae Silzer (Emma, GH)
    Reign Edwards (Nicole, B&B)
    True O’Brien (Paige, DOOL)

    Younger Lead Actor:
    Casey Moss (JJ, DOOL)
    Nicholas Bechtel (Spencer, GH)
    Pierson Fode (Thomas, B&B)
    Rome Flynn (Zende, B&B)

    Younger Lead Actress:
    Brooklyn Rae Silzer (Emma, GH)
    Reign Edwards (Nicole, B&B)
    True O’Brien (Paige, DOOL)
    Kate Mansi (Abigail, DOOL)

Younger Actor and Younger Actress does not have word Lead inserted. And you should know that Kate Mansi was born in 1987; meaning, she was 28 in the year 2015 and has exceeded the categorical level’s age cap.

soapsarecool, I also find the change in Lead Actor to be particularly interesting (and welcomed!) too.
As a quick clarification though, Kassie DePaiva submitted Lead.  I guess that does not mean she couldn’t be Supporting in a “dream” ballot, but it was said officially that she is competing as a Lead this year.

Thanks DS0816.  I deleted the word “Lead” and removed Kate Mansi from Younger Actress.

gdfl: I am aware that KDP submittted herself as Lead but like you said, since it’s my dream ballot, I went with my gut.  Once Emmy time draws near, I will redraft according to category placements.  And what will we do with the Goldies?!

Great question: what will we do with the Goldies?  I know the last few years, we’ve just allowed people to vote for borderline candidates in whichever category or categories they felt they belonged, but I’d be strongly in favor of us coming to a group consensus on the borderline candidates (Kassie DePaiva, Finola Hughes, and Kate Mansi come to mind right away) if possible.

And I agree that it’s great seeing a lot of new blood injected into the lead actor ballots.  Hopefully that carries over to the actual Emmys.  The prenom announcement is only two and a half weeks away, so we don’t have to wait too long to see how things are starting to shape up.
