Well i figured since the actual show is only a few weeks away, as opposed to a couple of months, we should start a predictions thread.

    Drama series

    Will win: GH

    Should win: DOOL

    Lead Actress:

    will win: Maura West

    Should win: Alison Sweeney

    Lead Actor:

    Will win: Anthony Geary

    Should win: Jason Thompson

    Supporting actress:

    Will win: Amelia Heinle

    should win: Finola Hughes

    Supporting Actor

    Will win: Kristoff St. John

    should win: Chad Duell

    Younger Actress

    Will win: Haley Pullos

should win: Camila banus and Haley Pullos *TIE*

    Younger Actor

    Will win: Bryan Craig

shoud win: Freddie Smith or Bryan Craig

I sadly predict almost a complete sweep of the acting categories from GH. I really hope i am wrong!!!

The only category I can predict – because I have seen all five of the submissions – is Best Actress: will win, should win, I’m certain: Alison Sweeney. Based solely on the submissions, I think Gina Tognoni is in 2nd place, with a tie for 3rd between Maura West and Laura Wright – Peggy McCay’s scene touches the heart and is an excellent performance but it’s very short and I am hoping that the panelists have some awareness of the fact that Ms. McCay has ZERO storylines and is not a lead actress at all.

Once more of the submissions are known I can predict other categories. Supporting Actress feels the most wide open for me, now that I know what Amelia Heinle submitted (she had better episodes to submit; this doesn’t mean she won’t win with this one, just that the category is more competitive as a result of her submission).

The other thing that makes daytime so difficult to predict is that we don’t know the composition of the panels ):

(I still don’t get how 22 correct predictions and 11 wrong ones is 59%? Shouldn’t it be 66%?)

After the controversy of her 1st nomination, the 2nd one only re-affirms for me that the industry is WELL aware of McCay’s stature at DAYS, yet votes for her anyways based on her solid emmy submissions.  McCay always has slam dunk submissions.

I mentioned, in the “reactions” thread, that Susan Flannery is the only person who has won drama lead-acting Emmys for more than one soap. (She won in 1975 for Days of Our Lives and the first of three more in 2000 for The Bold and the Beautiful.)

This influences me to not predict Maura West (winner in 2007 and 2010 for As the World Turns and who was nominated, on March 31, 2015, for her work on General Hospital). It doesn’t mean this is definitely a barrier. It means that nearly everyone with more than one lead-acting Daytime Emmy prevailed for just one role and, especially, one soap. Plenty have been nominated in lead for more than one series. But, to date, it is only Susan Flannery who has actually pulled off winning for more than one series.

By the way: I do have predictions on the categories of drama series, directing, writing, and the six [regular] performance categories. As is true with everyone who submits, they are subject to change.

I remember Toups saying that Maura should submit the crypt scenes with Sonny before the actual crypt sex..re-watching that reel the woman was amazing in that..honestly she had other reels that were amazing but again this is the womb that can be glorious with even bad writing. I think she made the right choice and she still has a lot of loyal friends at CBS.

Without knowing the submissions for Drama Series, Writing, and Directing, this is difficult. But these are my thoughts of now:

Drama Series: Days of Our Lives

    Writing: Days of Our Lives

Directing: The Bold and the Beautiful

Lead Actor: Jason Thompson, General Hospital

Lead Actress: Alison Sweeney, Days of our Lives

Supporting Actor: Chad Duell, General Hospital

Supporting Actress: Lisa LoCicero, General Hospital

Young Actor: Bryan Craig, General Hospital

Young Actress: Camila Banus, Days of our Lives

Guest Actor: Donna Mills, General Hospital

I’m assuming that Days submitted Will & Sonny’s wedding, and perhaps one of the great episodes pertaining to E.J.’s death or Nick’s death, and that is the basis of my subject to change Series, Directing & Writing predictions, based on that assumption solely…

Drama Series: Days Of Our Lives

    Lead Actor: Christian LeBlanc, Y&R

    Lead Actress: Alison Sweeney, Days

    Supporting Actor: Chad Duell, GH

    Supporting Actress: Lisa LoCicero, GH

    Younger Actor: Tequan Richmond, GH

    Younger Actress: Haley Pullos, GH

    Guest Performer: Meredith Baxter, Y&R

    Directing Team: Days

    Writing Team: Days

All these predictions are way, way boring and no surprises. I predict low ratings and a lackluster show.

How about instead of insulting everyone else’s pick, you could provide your own UNBORING, surprising picks for all of us to criticize.

    Unbelievable.
